Fort Benjamin Harrison Exchange (Class 6) — Local services in Indianapolis

Usually when I’m in Indianapolis, this is one of the places I like to frequent being retired (Navy), a lot of changes have been made since I last visited back in October 2023, the exchange no longer offers anything, it has become more a package store selling liquor and cigarettes now, which I found out later it was due to the 87% of sales came from that 🤦🏽‍♂️, the barber shop is still in operation as well as the nice gift shop. Commissary is still in operation as normal. Would like to see it return back to what it once was, but offer more for other services and not just the Army. I honestly don’t blame them for this change as I feel if you’re not at a major installation, and 87% of your sales comes from alcohol and tobacco, I would be selling...

Do NOT use the alteration shop inside the Exchange. In previous years under different ownership, you could count on quality work done in a timely manner. Today, not even close. Woman who now operates the location is a terrible seamstress. Multiple uniforms with poor sewing done. This includes missing stitching, misaligned name tapes and ranks, as well as inaccurate centering. You pay a premium to have your military apparel in top form. She ultimately makes you look like a first private with the horrible sewing working. And you wait 3-5 weeks for the "work" to be complete. Also keep in mind it is impossible to get work re-done WITHOUT paying another charge OR receiving a refund. Save yourself the irritation and seek...

I was finally able to get into this place due to being in VA healthcare. The place was pretty bare looking. Come to find out they are downsizing the whole thing into a shop that only sells alcohol and tobacco.
