So lets get it right out of the way, this place is STUNNING. The wine bard? ADORABLE. I mean this place will absolutely take your breathe away in the looks department. But were here to talk about food and experience so lets get into it.
So first things first, getting into the place is kinda....a maze. The entrance will make you question if you're at the right location, google will try to take you in the back way, its wrong. Its the first turn that shows RH. Not the 2nd lol Once you're in, it feels confusing, and then there's the parking which is just odd. You will have a little hike to get to the front door, and it is exactly that, a front door! Remember this was once someone's home. So you're walking into a massive entryway. Where once again, you will feel slightly confused bc you arent sure where to go. If you're lucky, someone will greet you, offer to take your coats and check you in, let you know where to find the wine bar while you wait.
Once you're in and waiting, you can walk around literally anywhere pretty much! You wont want to stop exploring. The wine bar is tucked away down the left hallway, where you will also find the kitchen. The servers are SUPER nice and very accommodating. They have coffee, teas, special drinks etc, all available for purchase right there at the bar.
Once your table is called, they will seat you in the main dining area, which is wild tbh. The way its set up isssss not exactly my favorite. Is it pretty? Sure! BUT its nut to butt in this place, just not very move around friendly and the tables are small.
FOOD: Now, this place isnt cheap. And tbh, the food doesnt really match up with the pricing. Im not saying its not good, but tbh its not AMAZING. We ordered the charcuterie board, the rotisserie chicken salad, filet, and a side of the fries. We were also gifted a dessert as we had issues throughout the service that were out of our control. For starters, the board was just...mid. The grapes i will see were the freshest i had ever had lol But overall, not worth the price. My salad again, was just, mid. The dressing was a bit bitter but the rotisserie chicken was awesome. Incredibly succulent and juicy.
The filet was just, okay. It wasn't anything to ride home about. Just you're average filet, the real star of the dish was the béarnaise. HOWEVER, I'm a firm believer that you shouldn't need a sauce to elevate a steak. Again, the béarnaise was delicious tho. We also ordered a side of regular fries, once we got them we noticed they were the parm fries. They did remove these off our bill, which was an added bonus bc tbh they werent really hot either.
On top of all of this, our food took almost an hour to come out. Due to the fries and the length of time it took for it to come out, they gave us a crème brulee on the house which was super nice and our waitress was a doll. However, after all it was said and done, around $200 for two people for food that honestly just wasnt amazing, is disappointing. To make matters worse they absolutely do not host events there. Its disheartening, as the money they could make would be insane. Understanding its a furniture store, sure. However, you have a restaurant inside, and someone next to us spilled wine all over the floor and couch they were sitting on...i mean. I don't think i need to elaborate on this.
to summarize, I say, go at least once for a date night. Its romantic, its gorgeous and if you got the budget, go for it! However, be prepared for a long wait, and food that's just really not worth the hype. But going at least once for the experience is really what its all about.
NOTE: ABSOLUTELY NO CHILDREN. This place is NOT kid friendly. Cannot stress that enough. DO NOT BRING YOUR...
Read moreWent to celebrate my & my mother's bdays & loved it! When I made the res I put a note we were celebrating both of our bdays, that day being my mom’s & mine the next. She arrived before I did & everyone she met knew it was her bday! Then when I got there, the same for me! The greeter, host, coat check, all wait staff & manager. We were touched that they made sure everyone knew & said something.
We started with 2 bellinis, which took a little while to arrive, but we’re not in a hurry. We then ordered the burrata & crispy artichokes as apps. Later, manager came out to say they’d run out of the artichokes & offered to replace that with the house chips & caviar, on the house! We declined, neither one of us like caviar & didn’t want to waste it. The burrata was delightful! Spreadable mozz with delicious charred baby peppers on toasted ciabatta. Could’ve used more bread as we wanted to eat it all!
We then ordered the burger & salmon to share. Getting 2 more drinks. We opted for the charred broccolini as a side. Everything was delish! They told us the burgers are thin, so they can only offer a little pink or no pink as the cooking temp. We were ok with either, but mom prefers more cooked, so we said no pink. They split the burger for us & one side was actually a touch pink, so I took that half (gladly). The salmon they told us would be cooked through, but medium in the center, as is standard for restaurants. I said we were ok with that. When it arrived I didn’t notice any undercooked areas & it was perfect. Such great flavor! The broccolini was also delicious, with the right amount of bite (al dente) & char.
We then asked for 2 desserts, the butterscotch creme brûlée & caramelized banana split. The brûlée was too sweet, but still good enough to eat it all. I don’t love bananas, but that was the better one. Get it!
They brought 2 glasses of Prosecco, on the house, with dessert (which each had a candle). The bill later also showed they comped the desserts! An unexpected delight!
Yes, the service was a bit slow at times, but again, we weren’t in a hurry and just enjoyed our time together. Things are a bit pricey, but we’re also paying for the lovely ambience and views. Driving up a private, gravel drive, seeing this gorgeous mansion & then be treated so well by everyone, it was definitely worth the price (even if I’d paid for everything). It also gave me an excuse to get dressed up! We were impressed with everything and appreciated all the personal touches. You should go at least once if you can, whether celebrating...

Let's start with the drive in. Expectations: a warm welcome at the gate and check-in of our reservations. Reality: an open gate. Maybe I expected too much!?
The drive featured wonderful art pieces, fulfilling expectations. However, the lawn looked neglected, far from perfect. It seemed mowed only a couple of strips that day, with weeks of overgrowth.
As we approached, we noticed a circular drive. Valet, anyone? Nope!
We parked and hiked to the entrance, a bit of a trek for my wife in heels. Lesson learned: Drop her off first!
Inside, a delightful staff member greeted us, checked us in, and introduced the galleries. He was the nicest person we met all day! We were seated promptly by a pleasant hostess.
We ordered our drinks from a waitress who didn't seem to really want to be there, and fifteen minutes later, they arrived. Not bad, since we weren't in a rush, but it was noticed.
After exploring the grounds, we returned to find salads served in the wrong spot. Kitchen staff delivered, explaining the mix-up.
Food was standard. Fish lacked presentation and smaller portion, shrimp was extremely small, and veggies slightly undercooked but tasty. Once again, we served before we were seated but still warm.
Grounds: stunning! Galleries and interior: nice but stark, lacking vibrancy. Beautiful mansion, cold atmosphere.
Dining hall: uncomfortable seating, noisy with background dance music playing in a low tone.
For dessert, my wife surprised me by ordering us each a creme brulee for my birthday. The floor manager delivered one crème brûlée for her and a scoop of ice cream with sprinkles for me, no birthday wishes, or acknowledgment. My wife was less than pleased, but shared her creme brulee with me.
To summarize, this place has potential but falls short on ambiance. It's worth visiting once to see what it's about, but the price doesn't meet...
