This is a great consignment shop to sell to and buy from. Compared to a Plato's Closet or similar resale store, they give you more for what you sell. They almost always have great items for sale for good prices! Just the other day they had a pair of Dior heels for $32 and Tory Burch jeans for $16.
The best strategy I have found is to sell what you no longer want, choose the store credit value since that is higher, then spend it on items you do want. Ideally, items that are half price!
UPDATE: I have since taken items on three different occasions and they didn't buy anything. A woman in front of me had a fit because they tagged and put a sensor through a pair of shoes she had not yet agreed to sell, and the hole from the sensor damaged them. Be careful...
Read moreFor some reason, this place attempts to brand itself as trade fashion, "buying on trend, clothing". It is clear their buyers lack the taste or training in accordance to their own buying guide. After a 25min check in process, I brought roughly 75 pieces for evaluation. Between the distracted (male?) crew member poorly dressed with an undersized halter top and $12 faux jewelry and the manager who was texting and laughing wearing a shein plaid oversized trench (oblivious to the line of sellers out the door), they spent all of 8 mins evaluating my pieces. Yes I timed it. It was clear they were uninterested, overworked and probably underpaid to a point where they simply didn't want to take the time, and rejected all of my clothes. Stating "brand, condition, and style". My response, "This is ironic, I bought most of these pieces here". The buyer looked embarrassed and asked me to point to some examples, which I obliged.
Being that this places is a glorified Goodwill, I figured best to donate my items locally. I suggest you...
Read moreWent to sell ~30 pairs of shoes on a Tuesday afternoon, around 3pm. Had to wait 15 minutes, which isn't too bad. Looked around the store in the meanwhile. They are very picky. They selected one pair out of my 3 bags and had almost priced it when they started not liking the balance of the heel, and rejected it as well. Overall, still a nice and friendly experience. They explained to me how the process works and the two different ways you get paid - either 45% in store credit, or some quantity ranging from 25-40% in cash, depending on what they price your item. Also went to Plato's Closet later, and in hindsight, I really appreciated that Crossroads takes all your bags at once. They explained to me that they look for seasonal items, so for example, they wouldn't buy used summer sandals in October. They also said they want more casual wear, so some of the more professional shoes I had didn't get picked even though they were in...
