Fairgrounds Park — Local services in Jackson

First the problems. It is an older facility and that is a problem for the overall score. Included in this our the bathrooms. They were kept very clean even under heavy use. Although serviceable they need updating. The addition of shower facilities is very much needed. How can you service a large community like this with no shower facilities?

The grounds were absolutely cleaned of any trash and it seems the maintenance outside is in good order. There were good walking patterns. The covered pavilions were wonderful and I am sure heavily utilized. The grounds were far enough off the main road to be away from traffic and road noise. I liked that the RV electric was spaced well around the grounds and there was room for every size vehicle. It seemed that the electrical could be updated and 110 should be added to the boxes. There is a pond located on the south side of the grounds and many local folks were fishing. It is too bad the local Walmart is almost 4 miles away and it was hard to find a local restaurant within walking distance for an evening meal. Over all I would stay here again as I enjoyed tbt peaceful nature and the large grass areas. so I am recommending using...

The state fair was in town and my job is responsible for daily trash pickup. The people in this county/city have made a sport it would seem out of littering. It is a never ending task to attempt keeping it clean. Besides that, the city upkeep is always top notch at the fairgrounds. You can tell when people take pride in their work. The buildings were build many years ago but they show no signs of the time past. In a city that has been known for letting their property waste away, I have to give them credit. The fairgrounds which includes a show track, livestock barn, expo building, grand stands and fishing lakes are absolutely looking great. The only thing I saw was the walking bridge did look neglected but I couldn't see taking away a star. To much area to subtract...

I like this place especially when they have the friendly Frank's flea market going on. They have it the first weekend of every month it starts on Friday and goes through Sunday. I have found some really great deals at friendly Frank's. Some of there things are set up out side on both sides of the building and they have booths set up on the inside of the building. You can also get something to eat while your shopping around stuff like hamburgers, hot dogs, and all kinds of snacks. It is a good place to bring your hole family. I would recommend anyone check it out if you like doing the flea market thing I bet you will find something that you just can't live without my wife and I always find something there.
