I’ve been training here at 10th Planet Jax for almost 10 months, and I can honestly say this place is very special to me. When I asked God, My Lord Jesus to provide me with a fire-filled place to train Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and MMA, AND meet brothas in the Lord Jesus, He led me here — and I couldn’t be more thankful❤️🔥
This is a No-Gi Jiu Jitsu gym, which makes it unique compared to traditional Gi-focused gyms, and the training here is next-level. The room is filled with incredible grapplers — great posture, high-level skill, tons of experience, and an energy that’s both humble and ferocious. There’s “a lot of sauce” in the details, and every roll sharpens you.
The schedule is awesome and flexible: • 6AM classes Monday–Saturday to start the day strong • Noon classes Monday–Thursday • A special Friday evening “bonus/dessert” class where all belt levels can learn new techniques • MMA classes Friday evenings (striking, takedowns, etc.) during Jiu Jitsu • Saturday MMA at 11AM • And after every class, there’s an open mat hour to roll and keep leveling up
Even more importantly, there’s a strong brotherhood here — a lot of men of God who live with the mindset that kindness is not weakness. If you’re looking for brothers in The Lord Jesus Christ and a place to truly grow in Jiu Jitsu, this is the spot 💯.
Huge shoutout to my Coach, B BROWN a 2nd-degree black belt, who not only brings world-class knowledge but also the humility and faith that make this gym feel like family.
🥶🔥 Truly blessed to call 10th Planet Jax home. IN JESUS CHRIST...
Read moreI met Coach Bryan Brown when I was a new white belt in a different school as he hosted a tournament for beginners to grant us experience and share his love for the sport. I lost twice but the community and culture he has cultivated made me feel like a winner. A year later I met him at the ADCC East coast trials in Atlantic City, NJ and he greeted me like an old friend. About a year after that Coach Brown hosted an open mat to allow people to meet current UFC competitors one Friday night. Before I drove 2 hours South from Savannah to visit his school I sent him the standard drop in fee via Venmo. He returned it. Shortly after that after I received my blue belt Coach Brown hosted a blue belt tournament with an impressive prize. I lost, but again I felt like a winner due to the community and culture he has created. I am disabled after being struck by a negligent driver and I literally have to crawl on my hands and knees to get on and off of the mat. I can't express how difficult that is for me emotionally, but not there. Not at 10th Planet Jacksonville. There's nothing but love, camaraderie, respect and chill vibes at 10th Planet Jacksonville. After that tournament Coach Brown was very generous with his time giving me counsel and answering my questions. Men like him truly make the world a better place. If I didn't have two kids still in high school I would probably move to Jacksonville just to be able to train in such an...
Read moreAs a woman & complete beginner with no experience to Jiu Jitsu, I was nervous about trying it and didn’t know where to start. I didn’t know what to expect. I just knew that I wanted/needed to equip myself with skills/knowledge of self defense.
There is a wide offering of classes (Jiu Jitsu, Rubber Guard, Striking, MMA) at various times that can work with almost any schedule.
The instructors are very thorough with explanations & demonstration of technique. I also find them very patient and responsive when it comes to answering questions. Most importantly (in my opinion), they are straight forward. They help you to understand that while this is a sport, it’s a combat sport and it’s serious. There is always discussion around minimizing the risk of injury/perfecting technique.
The upper belts are always helpful and willing to lend a hand. When it comes to rolling/sparring with lower belts, they have always been considerate and honest with feedback.
The culture, diversity, and cameraderie here isn’t something you find everywhere. It helps to train in an environment that feels welcoming and safe.
Jiu Jitsu isn’t something simple that you can learn overnight; however the environment you train in will be a huge factor in whether you’re successful.
I have no regrets about joining the...
