Kris is such a great captain and showed me an amazing time! He gets my absolute highest recommendation. He is an experienced and organized fisherman with all the best safety and fishing equipment and a great boat. I very much enjoyed my time with Kris’, not only catching fish and fun conversation but his knowledge about the science of fish and wildlife in general, what the fish eat, their behavior, the gear needed to catch them, how to fight them, cook them, etc.

My girlfriend is a bit less experienced than myself and prone to motion sickness. I was a little concerned going in on how the captain was going to handle that. But Kris did it wonderfully. He recommended some medicine in advance and after getting bait at some of his special spots he started her out in some easy waters where she could acclimate before taking on the rest of the day. No shortage of fish there and she had a great warm up.

We used the down rigger and king fish reels to land some king fish. I never fought one before but with Kris’ instruction got my first in the boat. Then within about 20 minutes three more that kept getting bigger. Had so many king fish steaks I had to gift them to friends. Got some amberjack and porgy as well.

Then we switched things up and used the bait casters. I lost count and had the work out of my life. So many red snapper, including the mother of all red snappers that I fought for about 15 minutes, grouper, and a few others. I had my first experience fighting a large shark that we got all the way to the boat for a photo.

I’m from a fishing family down in south Florida, so I’ve been fishing since I could hold a pole. So I like to think I know what I’m doing on the water. I’ve moved up to Jacksonville in 2000. It’s march of 2018 now and I still have trouble catching fish here in jville compared to my time in south Florida, until now. Fishing with Capt. Kris at fish whisperer charter, I have learn so much about fishing here that I should of done this earlier. But this chartering idea wasn’t my idea. It was my father who wanted to learn how to successfully fish Jacksonville waters and from other recommendations we called Capt. Kris to help us out. He did just an excellent job at that. My father and I both recommend fish whisperer charter for family fun, lesson, and just for a great time catching tons of fish. We had great weather conditions to go out in the ocean catching over 40+ fish. Target fish Black Sea Bass (caught 11 keepers about 20+ total), about 10-15 red snappers (not allow to keep them) and my dad would say a few grunten snappers ;). And much more. We caught so many we lost count. It was like being in south Florida again. Running out of bait before time to go home. My father and I would like to again thank Capt Kris for a very enjoyable time and the lessons. If you want to catch fish, then call the fish whisperer. I had never been on a fishing charter before, and was attempting to plan a surprise for my husband's birthday... I am so thankful that I was came across Fish Whisperer Charters! Kris had excellent communication skills from start to finish.. which is saying a lot because I booked this pretty far in advance, and contacted him multiple times before the trip to ask questions. He answered all of my questions throughly and gave advice on what to bring, what not to bring, and what to expect. On the boat it really felt like we were fishing with a friend, not with a captain we had just met. He was professional, but fun, personable, laid back, and contributed to the banter. He took the time to speak to every person on the boat individually to get to know us, which was really nice. He gave instruction on techniques for each fish we were attempting to catch, and for each rod setup. He was extremely knowledgeable about fish habitat and their movements, and used that to put us in some great locations to catch some fish. Kris went above and beyond to be sure we had a good time, and even made sure he was there to take a photo of every moment so we could focus on having fun and fishing rather than taking pictures. We had a fantastic time, and I would recommend this company, and Kris, to anyone....
