This is definitely not a "bakery" when you walk in the slices of cake and cupcakes are set up on tables along the walls. It is very unprofessional looking, cluttered and dingy. I should have walked out the door then but I didn't. She only had ONE cupcake and the rest were cake slices and some cake pops in a mini fridge. This place really looks like a yard sale not a professional bakery. Against my better judgment I purchased two cake slices and two cake pops. The total was over $25.00, I was shocked ! Anyway took them to the hospital where my father is and opened the cake slices I got "Almond" & "Cookie butter" we tasted the almond first and as soon as we opened the plastic container an overwhelming smell of almond extract hit us in the face. We both took a bite and to say it was terrible was an understatement. You could immediately taste the almond extract , it was so strong it kinda burned your tongue and it had a super artificial taste about it. My father and I both agreed that it was disgusting and threw it in the trash. Next was the Cookie butter, to start you could see the icing was ... different, it was grainy looking , not smooth like normal icing. We both took a bite. The actually cake was extremely tough and very dense & HEAVY . It was weird. I mean the icing tasted like cookie butter but again, it was grainy and weird, it had a sand texture and when you ate it, it felt sandy on your tongue. That too went in the trash. I pulled the two cake pops out of the bag and one was already broke in half and off the stick , we didn't try it but it was crumbly and obviously didn't hold together on the short ride to Baptist beaches, so the cake pops went to the trash as well. All in all, it truly was a waste of money, and a lot of money for two slices of cake & 2 cake pops. The lady was very nice when I purchased but this place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA Yelp rabbit hole lead me to this adorable little bakery, that is actually right by my house and has been for about six years, according to the incredibly sweet (pun intended) and friendly owner. I'm both glad and mad at myself for finding this place. When she sells cake by the slices, I'm going to have to find a whole new level of will power to not go up there on all of my days off.
And not just cakes by the slices, but she has cookie sandwhiches, cake pops, mini cheesecakes, brownies, rice krispies and more. I was so impressed at how many sweet treats were packed into this tiny shop.
For our first time in we tried a slice of the White Chocolate and Raspberry cake, a Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwhich, and a six count of the Strawberry with Chocolate Ganache mini Cheesecakes. Man, they were all sooo good! I wish they weren't as good so I wouldn't be thinking about them so oftem. It's hard to choose, but I think the cake slice was my favorite. It was just cooked perfectly and the frosting wasn't overly sweet and the raspberry filling was that right amount of tarte to offset everything else. It was heavenly.
For the sake of my waistline I'll do my best to not give into the temptation too often, but I can't wait to go back and try some other tasty treats!
Also, she does offer custom cake options if you have an event (or just want a whole cake to yourself... I couldn't judge or blame you). Not sure of pricing, but definitely worth...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe wanted to do something really special for our housewarming party, and I came across Darla online. From the very first phone call, she made me feel so comfortable and excited about the process. Sheās professional, creative, and one of the nicest people Iāve ever worked with. She came up with such a thoughtful plan for our CakePops and made the whole experience stress-free and fun.
The CakePops were not only delicious but absolutely beautiful - they became such a meaningful part of our celebration. I was secretly hoping weād have some leftover CakePops the next day, but our guests loved them so much that even though we over-ordered, every single one was gone! Thatās how good they were!!
Darla truly went above and beyond, and you can tell she pours her heart into what she does. I even found myself sending her videos of the party the next day because it felt like sharing them with a friend.
Having had vendors let me down in the past, I immediately knew Darla was different - reliable, kind, and full of creative ideas. Our experience was a 10/10, and I cannot wait to order from her again for our next event. If youāre looking for someone talented, trustworthy, and genuinely wonderful to work with,...
