Foiled Rotten Salon — Local services in Jacksonville

Well, I always hate to give a negative review to a place when I have never even stepped in their door but that is exactly why they are getting the negative review!! I was looking to make an appointment with ANYONE on the 13th of February because I was having unexpected company from out of town who were coming in a day early. I knew that it was short notice but this salon has a TON of stylists, some of which even advertise privately on line as specialists! I called the main number at Foiled Rotten at least 7 times and not once did anyone pick up the phone. I got no answering machine, no place to leave a message, no office hours listed, as a matter of fact I got more information from the website than I did from the phone for cripes sake. You mean to tell me that on the day before Valentine's Day, not a single person was manning the phones??? I find that hard to believe. I did call some of the specialists and their websites were dang impressive. You could make appointments right on line and a week later one girl even called me back directly but by then I had found a place who had taken care of me (see my review on HN Salon). So, for a salon that claims to be so large, capable of peforming every service in the business to the highest standards possible with the best stylists in the business, I have one simple suggestion... hire a receptionist!!! You lost a paying customer that day who took their $167 elsewhere and their future business to a place who simply picked up the phone. Sorry Foiled Rotten, you may be very good at what you do but getting them in the door and in the chair should be your first priority! I was not spoiled rotten by Foiled Rotten for sure.

I have read the response from the owner and although they choose to run their business that way, which is certainly their perogative, I swear on my father's grave that no answering machine picked up on the day that I was looking for an appointment, Feb. 13, 2019. If there HAD been a machine with such instructions, why would I have wasted precious time making 7 calls to your salon and letting the phone ring in excess of 10 times per call (because I know the stylists are often also the ones who answer the main line) waiting for someone to take my call? I write MANY reviews on a regular basis and nothing infuriates me more than when an owner comes on and makes excuses for something that a simple, " I am sorry we missed your call that day, it would have been our pleasure to serve you had we known you were in need" would easily have fixed this situation. Instead, you felt the need to come on here almost 2 and 1/2 months after the incident and write a response that was unkind, making it appear that I am an imbecile who didn't hear some imaginary answering machine in those 7 phone calls and I should have just come by to see if anyone was free. What you don't realize, nor did you take into consideration, is that I am BEDRIDDEN and going somewhere is an enormous challenge for me. I cannot just hop in a car and drive around the city checking on salons to see who has an open chair. I MUST have phone confirmation that you are expecting me because I need a driver, a walker and a boatload of medication just to stand up. So, when you brush off the fact that you have a listed phone number but no one can get through to talk to a live person at your salon by using that number, you should probably list that too so people like me don't waste our time trying to become your clients. I would have been a great, reliable, on time, HIGH TIPPING, client who knows a lot of people in this town but not only did you lose my business that day, you just poured gasoline on what was left of a few embers from a burning fire. A simple apology or nothing at all would have been sufficient. Thank God you are NOT the only salon in this area because you seem to have forgotten the simple rules of business and I know what they are because my Bachelor's Degree hanging on the wall says Business Management. I heard good things about Foiled Rotton, not sure how luck had me stumble upon this gem. Really glad that they take the safety of their clients during this time as a TOP priority! Very kind, talented, and relatable stylists! Andre was AMAZING ! Where do I even begin. Also during my appointment Caroline was there with great useful tips to on how to maintain a new look I was getting and adjusting to. Really relieved my practical concerns for a young lady trying extensions.

So back to Andre’s talent. I left with beautiful clip ins I got cut, and I was further astounded at how happy I was with my actual haircut too once I took them off at night! Cannot thank (or refer ) him enough! I’m not good at verbalizing what I want exactly, and I’ve been trying to figure out making clip ins easily work for me when I want them to for years.

Andre was the first stylist in my life that took the time to truly care, and exceed expectations in every way. For the past 3.5 years I’ve tried to figure out extensions. I thought I wasn’t pretty enough , or talented enough to make them work for me. With Andre’s magic he turned that all around in a matter of minutes. Got so many compliments on my style and color. Many had told me they didn’t think I could pull off with elegance, but I did ( hee hee! I love proving people wrong, and in glamorous fashion - thanks to Andre).

Book ahead in advance on website like a week ahead if you can! Totally worth it, glad I didn’t just go to any first place with availability. I’ve never felt so happy, and truly understood by a stylist. Keep it up Andre! You’re on your way, see you at the...

I never leave reviews but am really really happy with my hair so thought I could share my opinion! I have lived in Florida for about 7 years now, and for the first 6 years I hopped around salons to find the best where I could find a stylist I trusted or could afford. I was going places and just wasn’t getting my dream hair and paying $$$ for something I wasn’t happy with. Fast forward to the past year, I met Victoria at Foiled Rotten and can confidently say I have found my forever stylist!! From the moment you sit in the chair she listens to absolutely EVERY thing you are wanting from the color to the cut and she makes her magic happen. She even gives her opinion and as a professional stylist who has someone in her chair all day I trust her, and end up loving my hair even more than the inspiration picture! Victoria recently informed me she got extension certified and I have always wanted to try them since I have fine/thin hair and boom my hair has NEVER looked better. After I leave her chair I get compliments and feel more confident then ever. Yes the whole reason I go there is for a hair transformation but it’s also a huge bonus that Victoria is just a very sweet and genuine stylist. She’s a very polite girl and you can tell she really is passionate and caring about her customers and about the work she does which makes me excited to go sit in her chair.
