The Mendenhall Homeplace is a fascinating view into the past. The tour is very interesting and gives plenty of facts about the homeplace and the history that it witnessed. There is information about the Underground Railroad, and there is one of the very few documented false-bottomed wagons that you can view in the barn. This is a wagon with a space made under the wagon floor where enslaved persons could hide as they were transported to freedom on the underground railroad.
