Kind of a mixed review as my experience was jaded by mistakes I made. Bought a pair of speakers. Kenwood's. You could see in the pictures that the Woofer Drivers were replaced. My mistake was assuming that the woofer driver was replaced with a specification matched speaker. Or at least close. It was not. The original was 150 W RMS and 300 Peak at 8 Ohms and 92 dbs sensitivity. Instead, it was replaced with a 50 watt rms 100 watt peak at only 88 bd sensitivity. At least the 8 ohms matched. I did go and listen to them at his store at low volume. They sounded OK. I was not wowed but there were a lot of factors that could have been affecting the sound as there is no listening booth. What I SHOULD have done was to open the speaker, (only way to do that with these speakers is to remove the woofer.) As that is the only way in I was reluctant to make that request. When I took them home and put them in place I did listen again and although better than in the store not as good as expected. That is when I decided to see what the woofer was. Once opening the speaker I found the Radio Shack woofers , the baffle that is meant to protect the mid ranges were both broken away from the mid range and just hanging by the wires inside. I was disappointed to say the least. These, I believe, were consignment. Only tested for functionality before being put up for sale. The owner was nice when buying. I had to rush to the store at the end of the day due to his shop hours and my working hours. He was nice enough to keep the shop open. Also, he allowed me to use my own CD to test with. So, was it his fault, my fault, the guy who consigned them? Ultimately it was me. I should have dug deeper. I just did not feel comfortable asking the shop owner to remove a speaker so I can see in. Especially after he kept the shop open a little later. Although not the shop owners fault, I now have a healthy distrust in any product I might purchase from him in the future. Dig through the item. Look inside, test...
Read moreWent in recently, had a few quick questions about vinyl care and the owner answered very helpfully. Ended up buying 4 of his 45rpm vinyls from various genres at slight random, listened to them later and was highly satisfied in the condition of the vinyls themselves. The place is far from pricey and can easily lead to finding bands you have or have not heard for a low cost, which is a great way to expand your music without breaking the bank!
They also have speakers, turntables, and other stuff - figured that's also worth a mention.
It's tucked away in a corner, but still very easy to find and easily accessible. It's the ideal vinyl getaway for when you're tired of the same old stores in Greensboro or ready to switch up the spontaneity that is...
Read moreIf you don't like to haggle, I would stay away. I give three stars because there is some really cool vintage gear here and also some well organized records for sale. I take two stars away because pricing is all over the place. A can of basic DeOxit for $28 while the exact same one sells for $13-$17 anyplace else. Records that can be bought on Discogs for $2-$5 are $20+ here. Some records are priced reasonably but others are way off the charts too expensive. If you want to buy something here, check pricing on what your interested first, go in with the knowledge of what an item is selling for in other places. When I asked the owner if a particular record he had was worth a lot his response was "It's worth what someone will...
