UPDATE: I added two more stars because they are at least trying to work with me. But I now have to go to Lexington to pick up my item because it is there and can't be transferred. Angie was nice enough to provide several options for resolving this issue. Picking up the dresser was the easiest one.
Where to begin about the colossal mess that was our order experience. We came to American Freight to order a bedroom set. All we wanted was the full bedframe with headboard, footboard, and side rails, and the matching dresser with mirror. I would like to emphasize that while we were in the store, we kept asking the lady "we will get all parts of the frame, all the way around the bed, correct?" She assured us she had placed the order in correctly. When I looked at the receipt, I questioned whether a discount or price reduction had been applied because the total was too low to be for all the items we wanted. The lady assumed I was asking for an additional discount and gave us some spiel about how everything is heavily discounted already, and not at all answering my original question, Have you charged us for everything???
Well, the headboard was delivered. Just the headboard. The delivery team, which is contracted out to be fair, made a huge mess on our living room floor literally ripping apart the box, setting up the headboard against the wall, and flying out the door after taking $75 in addition to what we had already paid. We called American Freight asking about the rest of our bedframe, and they said that the footboard and slats were never entered into the order. They tried to push it back on us saying we never ordered it.
Anyway, we drove back out to the store to place the order for the rest of the bedframe. Thankfully it was delivered that night at 10pm. Then we realized that we never received the dresser, only the mirror. Looking at the receipt, it was on "backorder". They told us it would only be a couple of weeks. This order was placed on 10/3. We still do not have the matching dresser. So now we have a half a finished bedroom, and no place to put the mirror. We called again today, 12/4, and they still couldn't give us a date on when our dresser, which we already paid for, would be arriving into their warehouse and then delivered.
If I had known it would take this long, I wouldn't have ordered the matching bedframe, or anything from that set at all. Can't cancel the dresser as it's really needed, don't want the money back because I want the dresser as it matches the rest of the bedroom set, which has already been delivered, put together, and in use, so now I am stuck.
I will never again purchase anything else from American Freight. My only hope is that the dresser arrives before the New Year. In the time it took them to complete out order, we moved to a new place and got settled in. Maybe next time when you don't have items in stock, don't sell them in the first place if you don't have concrete arrival dates? It seems a fairly simple concept; people like their items soon after they've already...
Read moreI went to the store in Louisville not too long ago. The customer service was decent; but not spectacular. The salesperson was patient with me which I appreciated. The problems came in with the delivery. The furniture had to be delivered in two different deliveries because the sofa wasn't available right away. So I was charged two delivery fees. The first charge was $85; the second charge was $75. I'm not exactly sure why I was charged so much. The first delivery was a horrible experience. The man knocked on the door and immediately started lecturing me. He told me it was a good thing I was home because he had tried to call and I didn’t answer my phone. I apologized but he wouldn’t let up and told me because I hadn’t answered my phone they had considered just turning around and going back to the store. He also said that if that would have happened, I would have had to wait until they were available again to deliver and I would have been charged additional fees. He was extremely rude. He carried in the chair first, removed the plastic, threw it aside and walked away. The tables were next – they came in a box that he just leaned up against the wall. Then the second man appeared and his lecture was worse than the first. Each time he walked in the door with something he mentioned how lucky I was to be home. They carried in a queen size box springs and mattress along with the frame, a dresser with a mirror and a headboard for the bed. They set everything down grabbed their paperwork and left. The one man was about half way out the door when he decided to turn around and put my recliner together (it came in two pieces). I can’t believe I had to pay $85 for this! I was left with just my daughter to set up all the furniture. The two of us had to set up the queen size bed and move around the big dresser by ourselves. In addition to this, I had 3 tables to put together and the mirror to attach to the dresser (which I still have not been able to do by myself). The second delivery was better as it was supposed to be just the sofa and a lamp. The men who came this time were more considerate. They removed all the packaging and set up the couch where I wanted it. However, there was no lamp. So, in addition to the $160 in delivery fees I had to pay, I still had to drive back over to the store to pick up my lamp. This ended up taking up most of my Saturday because I ended up stuck in traffic for several hours. I am pleased with the purchases; however delivery left A LOT to be desired!! And, to be honest, with the amount of money I spent on the purchase (~$1,800), if I would have known all of this, I would have shopped...
Read moreI purchased furniture here in April and was told all of my couches and tables were in stock and being placed in the back on hold until I needed them delivered in June when I moved into my apartment. I called back one week before my move in date to be told that my couches were never in stock and never came in stock so I paid $850 for nothing. They did not have my couches and they weren’t coming in. I was told I could drive by and pick out something else but I do not live in Louisville so I cannot do that. Not only can I not drive there, they only have EIGHT couches in stock in the whole place, one of which is bright blue and another is purple. They have nothing similar to the furniture I paid for and was told was IN STOCK the day I purchased it. I now had to find another couch online at an alternate location and request that the money I already paid be applied to this couch. When I was there initially, in April, they told me they use a third party delivery service which cost $75. I was fine with this fee because it would save me time and make my moving day some easier. However, now that I have a couch from one location (since they have none in stock at the store I purchased at the first time) and tables at another, there is an additional $20 fee to deliver from two stores, AND they now tell me I will be charged another $10 per floor of the apartment complex to have the furniture brought in. My $75 delivery fee has suddenly increased to $125. The lies I was told at this business are ridiculous. I was never once contacted regarding my order and never told that the couches that were “in stock” when I purchased them were actually on back order and never delivered. Had I not called one week in advance, I would be sitting in my new apartment with absolutely no furniture on move in day. I will never return here for business and would have gotten a complete refund if there was any furniture in stock at any...
