This is a terrible place to buy computer parts. They seem to be willing to tell you flat out lies to sell their inventory. For example, they might tell you a certain part is the latest model, just because they don't have the latest model and need to sell what they have. This is what happened to me.
I bought a video card from them and at the time it was their 2nd most expensive card in the store. You would think that less than a year later they would still have this card right? When I needed support I called them and not only do they not carry that card anymore, they told me it was outdated a year ago. Did they tell me that when I bought it? No, in fact they told me it was the latest version card of that brand. That was a bold faced lie. $340 on an outdated card, and the Owner was a complete jerk on the phone. When I mentioned that I spent over $2100 cash that day on a whole new machine, he let me know how unimportant I was compared to his customers that spend $21,000 a day. Good customer service, right? Wrong.
In conclusion, If you want to overpay, want to be lied to, want to be treated like crap, and deal with terrible customer service/support, then Computer Outlet might be the place for you. For anyone sane, just shop online. You're much better off...unless you're one of the ones who spends $21,000 a day at Computer Outlet, then I guess you'll get good service.....maybe.
Edit: In further research I found out the model card they sold me was over 1.5 years old. There had been 19 newer models, of which atleast 7-8 had better specs at around the same MSRP. They also sold me a motherboard designed for Overclocking and a processor that cannot be Overclocked. The prices on pretty much every part I bought from them were not competitive. They were high, very high. So if you do decide to go to this store, please please know what you want/need and how much it costs at other places, before buying anything here. The salesman completely took advantage of my lack of knowledge and there is no reason he wouldn't do the same to you. The owner is beyond unreasonable too, so if you buy from this place and have issues, good luck with that. You were warned.

Read moreI didn’t even walk into the store. I called them and asked if they had 16 GB DDR3 ram that I could buy to install into the tower i built, as my current RAM is going kaput. When the owner or whoever picked up the phone, he was immediately very dismissive of my request, and told me that they “dont make 16GB Ram for DDR3” which isnt true because I was literally just perusing newegg for some, but decided i wanted to get it today instead of wait a few days by ordering online. So once i tell him that’s actually not true and that I was just about to purchase some online, he told me that I didn’t do my research well enough and also said if i “knew the model of my motherboard i would not be asking if there were 16 GB DDR3 ram sticks at his store”. This was funny because, I built my PC so i in fact do know the make and model of my motherboard, and I never once even stated what it was to him. As the conversation kept going, I kept trying to explain to him that I know exactly what i’m talking about and that I was just trying to give a local business some help rather than order online. All this man did was raise his voice at me and repeatedly kept saying “i just try to save you money!” even though from the moment he picked up the phone, he did nothing whatsoever to help me. The phone call eventually escalated into a shouting match, with him calling me an ignorant customer who knows nothing about computers and me completely baffled at how rude this guy is to his customers. I asked him if he gets many customers in his store each day and he said “no not really” and i completely see why. To anyone looking to shop here, save your time and order online or go to best buy. By far beats having some stuck up “computer specialist” scream at you over the phone in broken english talking about how you “dont know what you’re talking about”. Customer service gets a -10/10 from...
Read moreI've been in the computer/tech industry for over 15years now. The first PC I built was an 8086. For years I was a consultant for may businesses here in the Louisville area, and when I needed parts or a pc, I went Computer Outlet.
Need a stick of ram, they have it. Need a cpu, yep. Video card, heck yah. Need a hdmi to display port connector, they had them. I needed a micro-hdmi to hdmi cable, they had them. Saved my butt for a presentation.
Gary(the owner) has always been helpful and fair. He's even gone as far as doing the research for a monitor I needed for a project. He went out of his way to help me out, and he did.
A friend of mine started his own business, he buys all his PC's from here. He's had 0 problem out of them. You can walk in, tell Josh or Ian what you need, they'll work up a quote, if you wish to purchase it, they will have it custom built (at no extra charge) in a day. The builds are clean with nice cable management.
I'm now an IT manager for a local company, and I buy everything I need from Computer Outlet. I've bought laptops, switches, access points, hard drives, power supplies, cpu's, everything.
The reviews from fanboys that feel the need to post their 'expertise', when honestly, the only knowledge they have is some opinions they read about on some blog. I've bought PNY video cards and used them in cad machines. There is nothing wrong with them. They still have an nvidia gpu, just like an evga. While PNY doesn't have as good a reputation as EVGA, their cards are fine.
In short -- Computer Outlet is an honest, good, local company. Owned and operated by a good, honest, man. Josh and Ian have always been helpful, and knowledgeable. They've gone above and beyond to help me in more than 1 instance... and for that, I will always support Gary, the staff, and...
