A community center is something that any, & all members of the community are able to come together & enjoy their time, right? Not here in Johnson City. Looks are deceiving here. Majority of the available activityâs here are only available for use after you obtain a membership, pay the feeâs, & deal with the extremely tight time blocks. Donât bring your kids because theyâll have to sit in the car as many areas/times are restricted to 18+, even not participating. While the facilities are here for an amazing community center, do not come expecting one. Expect to be able to walk in & be able to take part in anything will only lead you to disappointment. While they do offer an open gym a couple hours a day, anything else will be restricted to âmembersâ if itâs even open. Things have changed drastically over the years for whatever reasons falling far away from the $15 million dollar idea of what a community center should be, & any true member of this community would be ashamed to call themselves a member of. The recreational center that used to be there for the area had far less to work in every sense yet it held a thousand times more of a community than the current iteration. With the potential of this facility if this was a true community center, then any member of the community should be able to come in during operating hours & take part in any activity. Requiring a keycard to take part in any of the most basic services, & not being inclusive to familyâs goes against everything this place should want to be. It seems this has become a local taxpayer funded âcountry clubâ mixed with a senior center. Doesnât seem to be too much room for the average kid to get off the streets, or a family to enjoy some physical activity. A complete waste of taxpayer funds & utter disgrace of a communal environment under the...
Read moreThis place is amazing. This is more of a Compound than a Center. They have so much to do here. My review today specifically focuses on the indoor pool experience we had. We took our two children for a swim and it was great. They had a blast. The sun was out and it was hot out but being indoor was perfect. The entry fee is absolutely minimal. We paid a little over $10 for all 4 of us. They offer swimming lessons, a lap pool, 2 training pools and tons of accessories from floaties to swim-boards and more. There's no charge to check out the items to swim with as long as you put everything back, the whole room is at your disposal. We went during the week and there were maybe 10 to 12 other people there. They offer a HUGE locker room with warm showers. For our pool and swimming needs, this place had it all. I highly...
