A friend recommended this restaurant & I was nearby so I stopped for lunch. The sign appears old & the building a bit run down, but inside the restaurant appears bright & clean - with the exception of a black room divider when you first walk in which is old & quite beat up. I was seated promptly & given a lunch menu. All meals were $9.50. I selected the dish my friend recommended: Cumin Beef with Cilantro. I opted for the egg roll, wonton soup & fried rice - all included for the $9.50. I placed my order with the man working the combo hostess stand/register when he came to my table with a tablet. About 5 minutes later, a young woman approached my table & asked what kind of soup I would like. I was a little confused after providing all the info not 5 minutes before, but answered wonton soup & she brought it out immediately along with a small bowl of crunchy noodles. I tried one of the crunchy noodles & paused to try & identify the taste. I ate a second one & instantly thought of blue cheese. I never saw a speck of mold on them, but that was my first thought based on the taste so I didn't eat any more of those. The wonton soup was quite good. It was hot, well flavored & had a sufficient amount of wontons. Approximately 10 minutes later, the remainder of the food arrived. I tried the egg roll first & was pleasantly surprised by the taste. About halfway through, I encountered a bit of gristle. I removed it from my mouth & continued eating - only to hit 2 more chunks of gristle which I also removed from my mouth & discarded. I definitely would not order the egg roll again. The actual entree was really good. I enjoyed the spice on the beef & the broccoli surrounding it was cooked perfectly. The fried rice unfortunately, wasn't good. The rice was overcooked so the grains were super swollen & even though the rice may have been fried, it had so much moisture, frying couldn't correctly crisp the rice. When I finished eating, I looked for a server to get a box for the leftover beef & to request my check. I got up & found a server cleaning tables & requested a box. She removed one of the gloves she was wearing to clean tables in order to get a container, but she ended up needing 2 hands. I'm hoping I don't taste cleaning solution in my leftovers tomorrow. After I packaged my food to go, I gathered my belongings & stepped over to the register. The server who had provided the box was sitting in a back booth talking on the phone. I made smalltalk with the man who had already been there waiting. At one point, I turned on my stopwatch to see how long I would be left standing there. At the 7 minute mark, I figured with the time I had stood there before I turned on the stopwatch, it was 10 minutes. I walked to the table in the back where the employee remained on the phone, dropped some cash & left. She never even acknowledged me even though she was looking right at me. I will not be returning to this restaurant!
*I love that the owner of this restaurant implies all customers who give it bad reviews are liars. The stopwatch function on my phone doesn't lie. He didn't appear quite so unprofessional when I was there.
LMFAO! If they spent the time they waste arguing with customers on Google serving their customers in the restaurant, they wouldn't have to deal with bad...
Read moreI found them unprofessional. I had to call the cops. I had to call my bank. All because they made the food wrong. They claimed they called me. The beyond menu app was malfunctioning and I couldn’t update my phone number to my 443 area from my home state of Maryland. They said they called the number on the account and someone was rude to them. I was very polite to them. They made me wait 40 minutes for my food. I never knew they had an issue. No one said anything. I would have explained that the phone number is five years old and no longer mines. Even the beyond menu support had confirmed my phone number with me and understood the issue with the app not functioning. I had to scream at these people and be late for my government job because they were being unprofessional falsely accusing me of treating them wrong. Never once spoke to them before that day and even in screaming and calling the cops, I never once made them feel bad about themselves. I even admitted there isn’t anything wrong with the food but it isn’t made the way I accustomed to so can I simply have a refund. I can’t wait another 40 minutes for food. I am a picky eater and a lot of places use one recipe around the board. I am a honest person. What I say over the phone is what I say in real life. I don’t try to people please and I don’t try to hurt feelings. I was super professional and nice even in being assertively loud but they were disgustingly rude making me wait 40 minutes for a 15 order and then making it wrong on purpose. Don’t eat from here. You will regret it. I had to call the bank and get a refund because they refused. I left the food with them and got my money back. I spent $26 here so you better believe I was getting it back. Here is the picture of the food I did not take. Maybe next time, the owner can confront an issue instead taking it out on a customer’s money or food. I will be reporting to the better business bureau and escalating the issue up the food chain since i have government connections. You never know who you...
Read moreUpdate: I just saw the reply to the review I originally left two years ago, so excuse the delayed response. After reading multiple responses on other customers reports it does not surprise me how this is being handled. I’m not going to get into an argument over rice, but I do think something else needs to be addressed.
Regardless of how one “feels” their restaurant runs, arguing, dismissing, discounting, or shaming customers on a public page for their honest opinion says a lot of about the quality of care for the customers they serve. The way customer’s complaints have been handled are very unprofessional, and unnecessary in my opinion. No one has been directly rude that I could see, just stating their experiences. Which is a great opportunity to improve services, offer feedback to the crew, and improve the restaurant’s overall quality and experience. Instead of criticizing your customers, why not take note of it and move forward? Honestly, it’s a great way to improve profits and overall ratings.
Original Review: I paid 4 dollars for 1 egg roll and 1 spring roll. 12.95 for a half of order of sweet and sour chicken. No rice that comes with it. I don’t know if this is the issue with online ordering vs in person but definitely not ordering online again. Food was definitely good though. Red Ginger is better. Too bad I don’t live near...
