New review.
Sunday September 7, I had just got back from out of town and stopped by the gym. There was an employee talking with another customer while I was waiting for her to scan my card. The employee was showing the customer something on her cellphone and completely ignoring me standing there.
Finally, another employee who was talking with different customer about something gym related noticed me standing and he promptly offered to scan my card.
This is the second time I have had a female Planet Fitness employee ignore me. And it falls on the male staff to do their job for them.
But no, it gets better (well actually worse). I normally bring water with me, but forgot this particular time. So I went to pay for a bottle of water from the cooler, and a different female for some reason was eager to tale my payment. She asked for my card and I thought this was surprising because as a Black Card member I get a discount on drinks but they never asked for my card before. I thought at that moment maybe she did not know or that was the way it was supposed to have been done, etc.
After she scanned my card for what would be a second time, instead of asking for the buck for the water, she apparently "discovered" that my dues payment for August had not been paid and promptly made sure everyone around know about the fact like I was a crook or something. She also said it was in collections. Really?!
This was surprise for me because the money is autodebited from my account not my debit card so I usually do not get an alert when a payment comes out, but I do when it is declined. I had previously called sometime in July and spoke with them that I would have to make August's payment late because my pay day arrangements with my employer had changed. I came in to pay it 3 days after it was due, but was told by another female employee that "I was good." Exact words.
I assumed they were able to draft it after all. Admittedly, I should have checked my account to make sure the money was actually subtracted, but I cannot imagine them telling me that I did not owe anything when I did, so I let it pass.
In any regard, I will not stand for this sort of humilation. I am going to pay them off, and see if I can find a gym that is not staffed with arrogant and entitled females.
This may sound like some kind of woman hate rant, but to be honest the male staff at the Johnson City Planet fitness are nice, cut jokes with you and have never made me feel unwelcome. So far the female staff have either ignored me, are just plain unfriendly, and now make me feel...
Read moreReally disappointed. I have great experiences at my home gym and other places I have traveled. This location needs some serious help/employees/management. I’m here for summer, working, went to the gym during lunch. Check in, 4 people say hello. I get on the elliptical, 6 minutes into my work, a young girl walks up and just Stared at me. I took my headphone out and she just “We don’t allow crop tops, thank you” and walks away. First... I’m 42, mother, grandmother, and medical professional, I was not wearing a crop top. It was HOT yesterday, while I was running I tied my tank. To the side. Secoond, what does that mean? I tried to continue my workout but I was aggravated and confused , I had no idea if that meant I needed to leave and come back? Just untie it? What???
I get off... look up my contract. Nothing about it there. Then I go to the dress code on THE WALL, nope, not there. On the website on “what to wear” there is a woman wearing a sports bra.
I asked to see the manager. The little girl giggled awkwardly and went to get him (he was working out)
Manager explained that it’s not posted any wear “no, you wouldn’t see that posted” and that he didn’t want heavy set ladies on the treadmill next to me to be Intimidated!!! It’s offensive that he assumes a woman at the gym can’t see another woman (smaller or larger) and handle her self. I’ve lost 40 pounds in 3 years, I was inspired when I saw women at my planet Fitness in shape, not intimidated . I let him know if it wasn’t going to be posted, it needs to be handled 100% differently. If someone said “we love that you are here visiting, at this location however, we try and be Conscious as we have a different demographic, and we are wondering if you could wear this planet Fitness T-shirt?” I would have been happy to do so... instead, they wot till. I’m on the machine, send a child, embarrass me in front of others, and honestly BODY shame me.
I am in shock. Aggravated I have to find another gym, and I am going to call, write, Email, and express my dissatisfaction on any and all resources available. No judgment means no judgment. I was judged. I was shamed. I received excuses from the manager like “that employee is socially awkward” or “that’s my bad on training her” NEVeR heard “I am so sorry about this experience, thank you for bringing it to our attention so I can make sure this never happens again” Get it together Planet Fitness All women want to feel welcome Not just the...
Read moreUsually a great location; however, Tammy, the “manager” is rude and disrespectful. She clearly does not enforce ALL “policies” across the board. Came in on 6/11, as I usually do with my guest. All of sudden, he was told he couldn’t workout after they looked him up by his name and birth date (they have never asked for his birth date). He use to be a member years ago (4 years to be exact), and they stopped him because he still owed a balance that he was never aware of. He has been a guest with me on numerous occasions and has never been told that he couldn’t workout before. The gentleman that checked him in has previously checked him in before and has never said anything. We asked to speak to a manager, since there was “nothing they could do about it”. So, Tammy was sent to talk to us at our request. She wasn’t helpful at all. She never even sat down to talk to our faces. She stood over us the entire time with a rude demeanor. We asked to see their written policy since she claimed there was one & she couldn’t provide it. She even said that she has probably checked my guest in before and did not pay attention. At this point, I was agitated and looking for answers that she couldn’t provide. At no point did I ever get in her face, scream at her or raise my voice. I used one curse word in a sentence and she walked away and threatened to call the police if we didn’t leave. As we were leaving, she turned back towards the front desk laughing with the two guys up front with blatant disregard for her lack of professionalism. She then proceeded to cancel my membership about an hour after i had left because I cursed. At no point did I give any consent for her to do that. I am allowed to bring whomever I choose as a guest. Very disappointed in this horrible experience at this location. Managers need to do a much better job about policy enforcement across the board. The owner of this location needs to do a better job of hiring competent people with a customer service background as the majority who work there lack this crucial skill. I hope to never encounter Tammy again as she should be immediately terminated. National headquarters has been contacted. I definitely do not recommend staying at this gym for long if you’re able to...
