I want to preface this by explaining that in the past, by experience with Adornable has been 4-5 stars. Iāve gone and had a few pants hemmed by them, and the work has held up for over a year. The stitching and alterations they do are quality work.
However, recently I had a disappointing interaction with the staff of Adornable. A few days ago, my boyfriend called them on behalf of me to ask about getting measurements for a dress. He was very clear: I was wanting ONLY measurements, no alterations. The woman on the phone repeated: I was ONLY asking for measurements. The woman told my boyfriend that it would cost $20 to get measurements, and that measurements could be walk-ins, rather than scheduling an appointment.
However, when I came in to get measurements, I was immediately told, before I could clarify the information I was given, that they do NOT do measurements. I was told, essentially, āIf the dress you order comes back wrong, youāll come back and blame me.ā
While I understand and do not fault that policy, that is just quite literally the opposite of what was said over the phone. I drove an hour to come to Adornable, since I trust their work. My plan had been to come back to them if the dress I ordered hadnāt fit right, giving them both measurement money and possibly alteration money if my situation demanded it.
I am very confused how one individual can give a price and a walk-in policy, but then another individual quickly turns me away and says that measurements are simply not done. I bought my wedding dress several sizes too big, and was told to wait 8 weeks prior to the wedding to book appointment. When I went in today for supposed to be another fitting, she told me that she was unhappy with the dress, with me and my mom ( I left crying yesterday because they took in too much and didnāt have enough fabric to let back out, assuming they cut it) and so she told me to take my dress whatever it is then sheās done with it and my money and told me to go. Now, 2 weeks away from my wedding and I donāt even have a dress that fits me to wear!!! She also tried telling me that Iāve been gaining weight is why my dress is too tight. Well, luckily I track my weight with 5star nutrition. Iāve lost lbs and body fat, so not possible. Once I got there i told her I called earlier to see if they could fix my zipper on my jumpsuit. Long story short she said the zipper didnāt need to be fixed but there was a hole in it. Then she proceeded to say you cannot wear this itās too small. I explained to her I bought it last yr and it ripped I had lost weight since then and I was sure I could fit it. She giggled and continued to tell me I could not fit it that it was too tiny. She said āsometimes these companies say something is one size when itās not.ā So what do you want me to do?ā I told her I wanted her to fix the hole but she pissed me off so bad I walked out.
