What an awful staff! I brought them two kittens I found in the street. Their door was locked! The sign on the door said they take animals only by appointment!! Do they think stray and needy animals live on their schedule and by appointment?? While standing there dumbfounded, the door opened and the woman said "we only see people and animals by appointment, then SHUT THE DOOR IN MY FACE!! I was mad, but called their number "to make an appointment". No answer. I get an answering machine to leave a message. I'm still waiting for the callback. I've supported the JHS for years, but no more. This is awful behavior to people and worse behavior to poor animals in need and a horrible policy. Did these people forget why this organization even exists? Horrible practices and people.
Further on this: I did get a return call about 3 hours later. They said an appointment could be made tomorrow. I guess they wanted me to care for these kittens instead of them for a day. Ok, I guess, then they told me because I live outside city limits, I would have to pay them $20 per kitten! No more donations for this awful organization. No more support. Never again.
In response to the below response. No thank you. I am not setting foot in your facility again. Your staff is rude and disrespectful. Your policy of refusing animals in need unless an appointment is made in advance is cruel to animals and inconvienient to those that have supported you in the past. You charge $20 per animal dropoff to those who live just outside city limits, but nothing to those inside for the same act. That is discriminatory. Where do you think city dwellers abandon their unwanted animals? Outside those limits! Yet you charge those people a fee to try and save them. I stand by my original statements. Horrible policy. Horrible staff. All my previous donations of food and money end today. I have adopted from you before, but...
Read moreAddendum: 12-14-2023 since the person responding to the review is unprofessional in her response. Just as I mentioned in my review. I have been met by rude employees at your location. Apparently, you need to reread my review. It was an employee at the front that made the statement (the old lady) that your clinic prefers not to perform neuters and spays on strays as they take up all the spots. Maybe your employees should watch what they say before talking out one side of their mouth. You were not present at the time the conversation took place, so you clearly have no idea what was said. To me its more important to stop or reduce the spread of homelessness in dogs and cats and they would take priority. My animals are not feral. The animals, I have brought in are not feral. I just find it ironic that the older lady at the front wants to make statements of strays being unimportant and taking up all the spots, when honestly, they should be more important to reduce the spread of the pet population and abuse. My review wasnt in regards to my pets being mistreated it was in regards to your employees and their unprofessional behavior, just to make that clear.
This place is crazy. The people who work here are crazy and rude. I took my cat in to get neutered and the lady asked if it was feral. She said, good because we get tons of feral cats and stray dogs getting neutered and spayed and I takes the place of cats living in homes who are needing spay and neuter. Since it's apparent you dont understand. Strays should be getting the priority! It's more important that we reduce the number of cats and dogs in this world with no homes. Your comment about strays taking all the spot is...
Read moreOur dog Freya got out and we could not find her. When we called The Humane Society they repeatedily assured us that she was not there. We didnt go in to check for 2 reasons, 1. We usually work when they are open and 2. We expected them to do their jobs, which is apparently asking too much. She was not posted on their found pets, vut she was posted up for adoption. So my sister went up there as soon as she saw it but got told that because it was 15 min til close they could not adopt her that night, but that we could get her today. My sister was not offered a way to hold her, was not offered to fill out the forms, just told to come back and get her. When my sister came back this morning she walked in at open she was informed another couple (that walked in just ahead of her) wanted her and that since she had not been said she wanted her first she could not get her back. When my sister pointed out that she was there last night, they said it did not matter. My sister got to sob in the lobby as someone else adopted a dog we love, that we got told we could get back. The manager acknowledged that this was wrong, that we should have been told she was there when we called, that my sister should have been allowed to do paperwork the night before but the manager said the other people still got to adopt Freya. This whole situation is was wrong, handled incorrectly, unprofessionally, and rudely. I advise everyone to not trust a place so poorly run and who obviously does not care about the well being of their animals because otherwise they never would have let Freya sit in a cage when we looked for her, they would have let her come back to people...
