It's taking me about a year and a half to write this review. I've taken my time so I can be clearly objective. We purchase a home and have been remodeling our home to meet our decoration needs. We strongly believe in repurposing good useful items. That are clean. That function well. Out of our 10 donation trips to the restore, seven times we have been rejected. The most common phrase given to us is that the items were donating are not profitable enough. Not that they're useful to somebody but they're not profitable. When I question this. I'm told to look at the board on items that are rejected. None of the items we wanted to donate were on the board. Simply, they were not pretty enough for the person taking the donation to accept our items. They were clean, worked well, were useful to somebody that may need it but rejected! When I questioned the board I was told to simply take our items and throw them in the garbage. Instead of to be repurposed or directing us to somewhere else that would take our repurposed items. We were told to throw them in the garbage. How insulting to the repurpose community and to us. We believe in habitat for humanity. But habitat for humanity does not believe in us or people like myself or neighbors that want to donate. It's simple, if its not profitable or pretty enough habitat for humanity of Joplin does not want it!. I don't think anyone's going to take something brand new and donate it . Maybe one in a million. But everything that's at habitat is well repurposed. I must say I'm highly disappointed. I also do not see any advertisements or any celebrations of habitat donating to the community and helping somebody restore their home or rebuild or use repurposed items. Habitat for humanity of Joplin simply wants items that are pretty and that are profitable. For our household there will not be 11th attempt. We'll find another community/ business that wants to take our items no matter how much the profit margin, but will use the items to repurpose.
I feel sad for habitat for humanity of...
Read moreI waited two weeks for them to come pickup my living room furniture, the guys who came to get it informed me that smelled so bad their boss would kill them if they took it back to the store. 1. No one informed that they might refuse the pickup. I was in fact told that they would pick it up, clean it, and resell it. 2. If it is in fact that smelly (we have pets but the furniture was kept clean) they should find a less rude way of informing their customers they don't want it. 3. The manager laughed at my problem multiple times over the phone and informed me that "This isn't a problem just call Red Racks or The Salvation Army and they will come get it." So according to him, ReStore is too high and mighty for my donation but send your smelly stuff to Salvation Army, they...
