I expected very little from the outside, but this arcade is a prime example of doing a lot with a little. They only had around 20 machines, three of which were multicades, but it was a fascinating lineup. For a game list that was obviously put together on a budget, it has a lot of variety and unconventional picks. I've been to well over 100 arcades and there were still a few even I hadn't seen before (Dragon Breed is one of the most unorthodox shoot-em-ups I've ever played and it was amazing). It's also the third cheapest pay at the door arcade I've ever seen.
But what really made Zap Arcade special was its dedication to being a fun place for local kids to hang out. Everything from the interesting decor to the console lounge in the back to the local TCG tournaments run by the hobby shop that houses this arcade (they had an entire prize wall for an upcoming Pokemon card tournament!). There's so much love poured into every inch of this arcade that I can't even bring myself to complain about the multicade machines (this is an arcade that clearly just wants to be a fun experience first and foremost, so it'd be terrible to nitpick authenticity).
It's far from the best arcade in the world, but it has every priority exactly where it needs to be. It was the first arcade in a very long time to remind me why I love seeking out out-of-the-way arcades. I can't say it's got the best game lineup I've ever seen, but, out of the 100+ arcades I've visited, it absolutely takes the title of "arcade I wish I had...
Read moreZap arcade is a true gem In Jordan, Minnesota! I am so happy that I found this place however, I think my two kids (12 and 6 years old) are even more happy!! I did Did not think that nothing could ever top the candy store in Jordan for my kids. I was so wrong!! They both agreed that Zap arcade is 100 times better!! Makayla was so incredibly helpful!!! My son was looking for a Charizard Pokémon card and Makayla throughly went through all of the hundreds of fire Pokémon cards trying to find the exact card he was looking for. She even explained a lot of Pokémon to myself, which I am very thankful for because I really don’t know that much about Pokémon. When we could not find the card, she looked through another box and found a homemade button that was donated and gave it to him! Michaela even found several other Pokémon cards that were for free and gave him those as well. Beau was also incredibly helpful!! Each time one of my kids had a question or wanted to try a Video game on the TV, he made it a top priority and helped. We will definitely be back and I will definitely be recommending Zap Arcade to all of my friends and family! That is truly saying something since I truly hate arcades, but Zap Arcade is way different than your average arcade!! Even I enjoyed being at Zap Arcade and seeing all of my favorite games from when I...
Read moreGreat spot in historic downtown Jordan. It is in a nondescript green building on the main Street. You walk into to a comic book, magic card shop of old school proportion. After you pass through the main room there is a larger room off to the side crammed full of vintage arcade games, a couple pinball machines, an airhockey table, and small room with vintage console games. N64, Sega, GameCube, PS3, NES, and several others. The video games and arcade games are a flat rate of $7. There are a couple games you can play by the coin , but the flat rate is well worth it.
The owner and staff are friendly and engaged with what there to do. They are knowledgeable and invested in helping you get what you want . They have different card games nights most days. Pokemon is on Saturday night. We have been in several times since we moved to the area and it is a great place for kids to spend time and now it is a healthy...
