Today I went to Asifiwe for a field trip with a group of students from Woodward Elementary, as a part of the after school program Club Grub. The owner was so kind and patient, as she let us go on a scavenger hunt around the store, and talked us through some of the traditional foods that are used in African meals. We tried different fruit juices (mango, lychee, and guanabana) and also plantain and yuca chips, which the kids LOVED. The owner (I believe her name is Janet!) gave all the kids a package of cookies which was beyond generous. I will definitely be going back, and I bought some snacks to share with my roommates.
