I saw a lot of great reviews for BC Pizza on the Kalamazoo Menu Facebook group, and I really wanted to like it. I tried the lunch buffet today with my partner before noon. When we got there, it was quite busy, which I kind of expected. We barely got a place to sit at one of the bench tables, which was dirty. Within a minute the place exploded with patrons. The line for the buffets were long, and by the time you get up to the food, it was all practically gone. I could tell the staff was working incredibly hard to keep up which I really appreciate, but it wasn't enough. Eventually there was a lot of frustration and anger among customers who just purchased their buffet and can't find a place to sit. One woman with her kids was bickering with other people at my table about how the table can fit 10-12 people and made her family fit at the table although it made others uncomfortable, including my spouse, who returned to her seat to find that most of the bench was taken and she had to sit uncomfortably on the very edge of the bench and sitting elbow-to-elbow with another person. New customers kept piling in and there weren't enough places to sit - many people were standing just waiting for others to leave, which also made us feel like our dining experience was rushed. It was so loud we couldn't even have a conversation, also because we were sitting directly next to strangers who we could tell were in a terrible mood due to the seating situation. We didn't want to bother going up to the buffet again because of the long line and lack of food available once you finally reached the food. Having a lot of customers is not a bad problem to have, but it makes for a terrible experience on the customer's side of things. My suggestion would be to eliminate the bench seating completely and replace them with tables and chairs because it's hard to argue how many people can sit in a single chair versus a bench. If possible, add more outdoor seating. I realize it's a tough situation when you have more customers piling in and it's already obvious to staff that there's nowhere to seat those customers, so you sell the buffet anyway rather than turning them away. All in all, it starts out feeling like a good value, but shortly gets ruined by the entire atmosphere of the restaurant. I don't know if we'll come back - it was a really miserable time and I'm sorry...
Read moreI can't believe I've overlooked B.C. Pizza for this long!! I recently started going, and I honestly can't think of a reason why I shouldn't have tried them sooner.
In all honesty, their pizzas and subs are top-quality, no exaggerating. Here are what I've bought for myself, and had a taste of from friends' plates:
Extreme Pepperoni Pizza - no disappointment whatsoever. Mild sauce, PLENTY of toppings, and SO flavorful. Love this new favorite.
Bacon Dbl Cheeseburger Pizza - wait, what? There's such a thing? Ok...I'll try it. Very flavorful, surprising come-out-of-nowhere pizza! Please try it. Nice blend, not overpowering, tasteful.
Subs: simply too many options, you pick your favorite toppings and their bread is JUST crispy enough to balance the soft & soggy end vs the teeth-breaking crispness others have. In other words, crispy enough to make it home without being soggy and WON'T break your teeth.
Desserts: come-from-behind surprise! I love B.C.'s Cinnamon Crisp Pizza! Definitely an amazing dessert pizza for a few people. They don't skimp, it's flavorful and filling. But here's the ultimate surprise - CANNOLI. Real, rich cannoli! Just trust me, buy it on a whim if you're not familiar. I'm not Italian myself, but I think I need to call and place an order after I finish my review. Shameless I know, but I'm weak for their pizza and desserts.
Definitely an overlooked gem, please keep this little pizza place busy! Tell them Dave sent ya!! (Lol, like they'd even know who 'Dave' is...but after a few calls I'd bet they'll wonder!)
Take care &...
Read moreAn incredible experience through and through. I enjoyed my time in BC Pizza so much. My party ordered the buffet, and it did not disappoint. The pizza selection was immaculate and restocked constantly. I was shocked by the quality of the desert pizza, reminding me of a fresh blueberry pie. Plus, the cheese bread was probably the best I've ever had. But, furthermore, the atmosphere too was impeccable; I loved everything about it. The red pepper flakes & parmesan on the tables, the paper towel rolls, the 3D printed knick knacks you can peruse--it's all so welcoming and kind. A review would not be complete without mentioning the hardworking, dedicated, and fantastic staff. The particular gentleman who checked us out was so kind and welcoming. It was my first time at this location, but it felt like I was getting the full celebrity treatment. However, I have been to several other BC Pizzas, and I am surprised to say, even with the quality I've experienced before, the Kalamazoo BC Pizza ranks amongst the top locations I've visited. If I can be so bold, I'd say it probably ranks among the best pizza shops ever. In conclusion, I'd like to thank the Kalamazoo BC Pizza team, and also, I'd like to make something known to God: if you want me to stay in heaven, you better make sure there is a BC...
