Boulevard Drive In is finally open again after being closed for nearly three months! IT WAS PACKED! 🙂 But everyone was easily practicing social distancing, parking one car width apart from each other. We didn't utilize the FM radio this time, the speakers were plenty loud enough as we sat in front of our car in our lawn/sports chairs.
I called ahead of time and asked whether the snack bar was open yet, found out it wasn't but it might be in the coming weeks. In the meantime the management is actually encouraging bringing food and drinks of your own. They are just happy to be open I think! Bathrooms are open, which is good, playground is closed, which doesn't really matter (I can't remember the last time I saw anybody's kids playing down front). And as usual, all the people there were extremely nice.
We even got to pay it forward this time: we jump-started the car of a young couple who, like us the first time we went, ran the radio all night listening to the movie. I guess most everyone learns the hard way that you need to run your car for a few minutes every hour so you can actually drive it home at the end of...

I've been to many outdoor theaters. None with the little quirks that make this one so great. When we arrived there was a man standing on the roof of the co session setting of the camera. As we waited for it to get dark we realized he was able to scan the crowd with the camera like at a bassball game during the songs and capture people dancing and having a good time. Everyone loved it. The concession itself and a nice walk through that was very busy. On the other side of the consession approachable from the outside, was a place to get snow cones and funnel cakes. There was also seating next to the funnel cake location that had a great view of the screen of you didnt want to sit at your car. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accomodating. I was skeptical of the screen until the Lion King came on and it really was amazing quality.
I will return here and this location is one of...
Read moreVisited for the first time and absolutely loved it. Honestly bet there isn't a bad seat in the house. We were parked right next to the concessions/bathroom which was at the center of the screen. I read some of the speakers work better than others so we brought our own portable radio and would definitely suggest that in case you don't get a great speaker.
Brought our own food and drinks but had to visit the concession stand which was like a little time capsule. Got some pop and cotton candy but they had hot dogs, burgers, nachos, funnel cakes, and sno cones too.
Men's restrooms weren't wonderful but the women's were up to date. And at the end of the day, you're at a retro drive in so who cares about the bathrooms.
Getting in and out was surprisingly easy, was worried it'd be a lot of stand still traffic. Got there around 7:30 and back on the highway just 10 or min after the second movie ended.
Can't wait to go back next season, a great date...
