TLDR: Elements is a welcoming and diverse gym where my whole family has fun building skill, strength, and flexibility in a safe way. Come join, already!
We initially signed our son up for mma in hopes it would reduce hair pulling and eye gouging at home and improve his coordination and balance. It did! He loves the games and techniques and we love that he’s learning self control and confidence in his body. And I was so envious watching how much fun he was having that I joined, and pretty soon my husband came on board too. If you’re looking for a gym but you’re shy because of your weight, stature (large or small), gender, age, fitness level, athletic affinity, neurodiversity, or ability to keep your gi shining white, you will find friends among us! The staff and members do a great job of meeting folks where they’re at. The instructors/coaches are humble, kind, and good natured but don’t hold back from giving helpful, honest, constructive feedback. They are a great cast of characters and complement each other’s styles really well. In general, they’re pretty technique-focused and injury-averse. Adrenalin junkies may initially feel frustrated with the pace of learning and emphasis on consideration and control when sparring, but I appreciate that injury prevention is a priority. I also think we all benefit from having techniques thoroughly broken down and practicing lots of reps at lower intensity before getting tossed in the ring. And if high-intensity is your thing you can turn it up to 11 in open rolling time or at open gym. Because all classes are included with membership my husband and I have both branched out from our initial interest in BJJ and between us are enjoying judo, yoga, boxing and muy tai, and getting way stronger. I don’t love yoga in general, but the magic of the sun streaming in the big windows and Mali singing to us with her harmonium make it worth showing up (and tbh it does help iron out the soreness from bjj and conditioning). Being able to bring my little kids with me is also a huge gift. Joining elements has been a game changer for my family’s physical and mental health. We’re so grateful to have somewhere to play together...
Read moreElements is fabulous! I was blessed to find Ari about four years ago, seeking personal training, and have been partaking of more and more of his offerings ever since. Personal training evolved to include yoga and heartwarming yoga group classes, and then this summer I got to try a jiu jitsu class as a complete novice.
Ari and his staff are wholesome, kind, patient, and inclusive. There is such quiet and kind respect for whoever you are and wherever you're coming from. And of course, they role model a respect for the athletic and wellness practice they're trying to provide. Meanwhile when I see the kiddos in there, they're obviously having fun (and the gym and classes are obviously providing a huge outlet for them).
Let me give special mention to the fact that Ari has continued my personal training via remote video sessions even when I've had to relocate (and then also due to COVID). Also special mention for that jiu jitsu class, where they lent me a gi on the spot and all the students showed me how supportive and instructive they could be, too.
I think this is a place that always finds, and presents you with, the challenges that you want. My physical and mental health are obviously way better than they would be if I had never met them.
Bright, sunny,...
Read moreI have been training at Elements MMA for over a year, and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.
The Elements coaches are passionate about martial arts and dedicated to helping the students learn and grow their skills. They are always patient and encouraging, and they always ensure that everyone is learning something new and having fun.
The facility at Elements is state-of-the-art. It is clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything you need to learn martial arts safely, and get a great workout too.
The community at Elements is friendly and welcoming, and they are always willing to help each other. Whether you are a beginner or coming in with prior experience, you will feel right at home at Elements.
My children also love the kids' classes at Elements. They have made so many new friends, and they have learned so much about martial arts. Their confidence and self-esteem grow day by day, and training at Elements contributes to that in a big way.
Is Elements right for you? If you want to learn practical martial arts in a safe environment with a fun and supportive community, I would tell you to give it a shot. You can thank me when you see me...
