Came here for a demo and to buy skis and left a little disappointed. (Skip to the bottom for my complaint) The rental process for my demo was okay. I didn't get much time to choose a ski or talk to an expert about what I was looking for. I think there was only one ski that was in the size that I was looking for (which I didnt know before paying my fee). The shop wasnt terribly busy but the morning rental did take a while. I asked how much it was to purchase the skis I was demoing and I did not get an answer. I told them that it was fine and I'd ask again when I came back in the evening. (---complaint below---) I returned in the evening and asked what the price of the skis were. They told me that they did not have a price for these skis set. The said that they would look up the price of the skis and give me a reasonable price. Of course, I too looked up the price of the skis. The workers tell me that they price match. The first google result for these skis were 400 USD. I can hear the workers conversing about their google results. The counter guy tells me 500 USD. For the rental skis. For which I know he's looking at a 400 USD price online. I absolutely left. I found it very silly for them to pretend to price match just to give me a clearly higher price. I don't appreciate the silly games. I was totally ready to buy those skis for a reasonable price and at this point I'd rather go through the trouble of mail ordering skis than to deal with the silly games. It felt like I was at a car dealership. Seek your large purchase elsewhere.

Don’t understand why this store has a review of 4.9. Went there Sunday for rentals. The staffs’ attitudes are very bad. And on their website they say they have several options for intermediate ski rentals. But when I went there, they only have one type of Nordica ski. You don’t get to choose. The intermediate package has no difference to the beginner one. And their skis for advanced package are also very limited. I couldn’t even find a ski for my height. So whatever package you choose, they are gonna give you what fits you and you won’t be able to choose. And sometimes, you might not even be able to find a boot or ski that fits you.

I went to them to change my handle bar tape for my next cycling trip. My other one was starting to fall apart after 6,000 miles (across the US and down from Alaska to Seattle, all types of weather conditions). I barely rode 400 miles and this new tape is unraveling. I felt like I was dismissed when I emphasized I needed long lasting quality, and this shows that I was. I can't imagine what is the quality of more important bicycle fixes.

So glad I found this place. The ratings do not lie. We drove up from NJ for our family's first time skiing Killington. We did our reservation online the day before. Arrived next afternoon, they had the paperwork and we were on our way to get fitted. The staff were so helpful and very friendly. They made sure they explained how the boot should feel/fit to make sure we had the right boot. This was very helpful as most of the family had not really skied before. We skied the next day and the equipment was perfect. My 3 kids and wife had so much fun as did I. What was really the icing on the cake was that we brought back the next day because the following day was going to be a rainy day and that would not be fun. I told the staff we would likely ski again in a couple of days and they said they would put it off to the side for us. They could probably do this given it is April and it is a bit slower. I showed up two days later by myself and picked up all 5 sets. In and out in less than 5 minutes. The guys helped carry the stuff to my car. Without hesitation, I will always recommend this shop. On my way out the last day, the nice guy even shared some ideas for next winter on good times to come, etc. Also, he told me about all the great things to do in the area (e.g. hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking, etc) during the warmer months . If you need to rent or get any gear, this place is really quite large compared to many of the shops in the area and a very good selection of equipment and accessories. You will not be disappointed. And of course, you can't...

The Elles family and the employees at First Stop Board Barn are very knowledgeable when it comes to any ski, snowboard, or bike gear you could possibly need. This is a great mom and pop shop with a no pressure sales attitude that can do it all. Excellent boot fitting - they will work with you until they get it right, but I’ve found they often get it right the first time, even for my bony misshapen feet. Great selection of skis, bindings, snowboards, outerwear, and all the accessories from the most reputable brands, and a top notch tuning and repair shop (get the season tune early if you can - it’s a no brainer and it will pay for itself after just a few tunes). The prices are in line with all the brick and mortar shops around, maybe not the bottom of the barrel that you might find in the corners of the web, but you will find that they are great with any warranty issues on gear so you can buy with confidence that if anything goes wrong, they’ll take good care of you, unlike what you’ll find online. All in all, I will continue to bring all of my business here and recommend to anyone in the...
