You know, I have been to a lot of fairs and festivals in my life and not just in WV. But this year's Buckwheat Festival was a success. We don't go for the Buckwheat cakes and sausage meal. We go for the rides and games and fair food. We went Friday around 3 pm and it was set up so nice and easy to get around to the all the rides and food vendors. It was $18 for an all day pass to all the events and rides. I have been to other fairs and festivals and there will be a fee just to get in, then a fee to ride the rides. So for 4 kiddos to ride for hours was $72. Not bad. The food is priced high like fair food always is. But if you can have enough will power to keep walking even as tempting as it looks, 😉 you won't come out regretting spending $16 for 2 funnel cakes like we did. The people running the rides and games were really nice. A bunch of locals actually helped out. Shaw and Sons were the rides supplier. Oh and the rides, out of, I think 12 bigger rides, there were 5 I had never seen before in all the years I have been going to fairs and festivals. They were really cool rides. There was a kiddie section as well that had I believe 4 maybe 5 rides in it. There were a few rides that were cash only and honestly they were not worth it at all. They should have been included with the $18 wrist band price. So check it out if you can. You won't be disappointed. Your family will have fun. Also if you plan on staying until they close, bring a hoodie, jacket or something because it got cold near those rides running. Have fun and...
Read moreI grew up going to the Buckwheat festival every year and my kids and have gone every year they could ride. Sadly I think this year might be our last. The people working the rides this year were incredibly rude and unhelpful. My youngest was on one ride and began losing it halfway through. The workers have always stopped rides when a child loses it to let them off then resumes the ride for the other kids. The worker this year forced her to go three more rounds even though she was screaming and crying. Another worker huffed and puffed when my kids went to get on her ride because one of them needed help climbing onto the bike. I hate that I paid $25 each for my kids to ride rides then be treated like they were. As I said I doubt we return unless they hire new workers who don't act as if they hate everyone and everything about their jobs. The only reason I can give two stars is because the people who were running the build a bear type craft were so kind, patient and gave my girls such a...
Read moreI scheduled my trip to Morgantown for the purpose of attending the annual Buckwheat Festival at the end of September. I had not seen the parade since I was a little boy. We attended on the Friday of the festival.
We first ate at the Kingwood Fire Department and it was delicious! All proceeds go to the Fire dept. Then we walked through it and finally ended up watching a man cut a eagle out of a log.
Then sat on the sidewalk and watched the parade which was fun!
Not only was the festival fun, the beautiful town of Kingwood is worth a visit sometime just for it's self. I will highly recommend this event...
