Recently my 15 year old Whirlpool Cabrio Washing Machine started have problems during the spin cycle. It would go off balance, shake around and the “ul” code message would show on the machine. I checked and the machine was level; so, had to find a repair person.
I called the last repairman who had worked for me; but, he had moved out of town. I checked on-line and found a couple of places to check. One was a place you had to type an email and wait for them to respond to you. Then, remembering I had purchased my stove from Merit’s and they have an appliance repair service. . .I gave them a call.
First of all, let me say how pleased I was to actually talk to a real, live human being. I did not get his name; but, he was extremely kind and transferred my call to Mike, the head of the Appliance Repair Section. I explained to Mike what my problem was and he was so helpful. He looked up the parts I would probably need to repair my washer and ordered them for me. We had a lengthy discussion on the pros and cons of repair versus new machine since my washer was 15 years old. I appreciate all the time he took to explain things so clearly to me. Mike ordered the parts. When the parts came in, I received a call that the parts were in and the repairman would call me and establish an appointment a day or so later.
Darrin, the repairman, called me on that date, set up the appointment and was here “on time” to fix my machine. Darrin was extremely polite and installed the parts. He was respectful of my home and me. And, he fixed my washing machine. He certainly is an asset to Merit’s. . .great employee and a real gentleman.
The next day, after doing four loads of wash, I am so happy to say the machine is running like new again. I called Merit’s and talked to Keith to thank them for treating me so kindly. I called late on Friday afternoon and some people had already gone home for the day. I had a discussion with Keith to let him know how nice it was that Merit’s knows how to treat customers. Keith was as nice as everyone else. . .and I appreciate the kindness he showed me.
What I want to say is I am 80 years old and how refreshing it was to deal with “real people” who know how to treat customers. . .who are still polite, who do what they say they will do and are extremely efficient at their jobs. Read moreThese guys are great! The service department went above & beyond the call of duty when our oven would not work just before Thanksgiving. Though we did not purchase the unit from Merit's, they tried there best to get parts that had been discontinued. Though the parts were located in a very short time, there was no way that we would be back in business by Thanksgiving. We decided to bite the bullet, and ended up deciding to oreplacing the entire kitchen. We placed our order, and were put on the schedule for installation the Monday before Thanksgiving. Due to some weather issue in shipping the new appliances did not arrive on time, and would not make Thanksgiving. The guys were very empathetic, but we were still wondering what we were going to do with a houseful staying with us Thanksgiving. My wife started crying when we were leaving the store, and the manager, who was on the phone when we were talking to our sales rep, chased us to the car. He explained that he had heard part of the conversation, and thought maybe he could find a fix. He offered us an older functioning wall oven to get us by that even matched. They offered to install it that night at 5pm. We settled on the following afternoon, and left feeling very satisfied by the level of service. The next day the installers showed on time, and installed our NEW oven that had arrived just hours earlier. When they finished it was 6 pm. They then gave us the option of leaving the rest of the new appliances in the garage and finish installing tomorrow, or they could continue if it was no imposition. Are you kidding me? Who offers service like that? They finished the job that evening, and Thanksgiving came & went without a hiccup.

I would consider myself somewhat of an annoying customer as I am a big time bargains hunter and struggle to commit to anything. after 3 days of answering my constant calls and questions I bought a completely different washing machine then I had in mind. And they gave me an INCREDIBLE price. I could not be happier. I spent less then I had expected and Came home with a way fancier machine than I ever could have imagined being able to afford.
