I go to Pelican pretty regularly. It's not the most spotless theater I've ever been to, but it's still kept pretty tidy, even for being a little less staffed than the average theater. When you walk in to buy tickets, you don't see a bunch of fake smiles by kids who are terrified of losing their jobs. You see a bunch of normal college kids trying to get by. They greet you kindly and ask you what you'd like to watch today. They go for a quick up-sell (they have to, it's part of their job description), but aren't pushy; a simple "no, thank you" is enough for them. Bathrooms are easily found and kept just as tidy as the rest of the place. Theater itself is pretty well maintained. Seats don't have holes, cup holders hold cups, movie screen is clean and clear.
All the necessities are taken care of. I don't expect a place that looks like it's never been touched by the public. I go to a theater because it's a place I expect the public to be, so I can share a new release with my wife and some other movie-going pals.
Some (real) cons of this place versus other places I've been to: Seats don't recline enough. You're not upright, but you can't lean too far back either. Cup holders / arm rests don't move. They sit there, and take up space even if you don't have a drink, plus can't get close to your lady/guy. The food selection is really pretty basic. Popcorn, bagged chips and cheese sauce, hotdogs, fountain drinks and a small(ish) selection of candy. Nothing really interesting to eat. I don't eat popcorn and I get bored of pre-packed chips and cheese sauce (even if they do have jalapenos).
But really, at the end of the day, I'm satisfied with the place. It's in a good location (near popular sit down and fast food restaurants, and a hotel for the travelers). You can go grab a bite before the movie, drive across the street and watch your film.
Plus, I get the added benefit of living and working right around the corner from the place.
Final note: Tickets are no more / no less expensive than other places. I think some people remember the gold ol' days when tickets were as low as $5 for matinee and $8 otherwise. Heck, I remember those days, just 20 years ago. But it's NOT the good ol' days.
Not only that, people around here don't often go to other theaters, just this one, because the next closest is 80 miles away. They must think this place is stiffing them because (I guess) the owner of the only theater in town must be a jerk? I dunno.
Inflation and various forms of legislation cause the costs of operation and the costs of paying your employees (and insuring them) all go up over time. This place is just...
Read moreTonight myself, another parent and 2 kids went to see Black Adam. Our trip to the movies started good until we got to the theater where we learned the bathrooms were still out of order which they have been for over a week. The only bathroom option available for movie goers at this cinema are port a potties outside in the cold in a part of the parking lot that is poorly lite. When I asked the staff about a discount or something for the poor accommodations especially since we have younger children that would need accompanied outside in those conditions I was told they aren’t giving a discount. Then when I tried to use my two free movie tickets for the 3rd time at this theater after making sure a week ago that I could use them on this movie on this day. I was told that it’s a Disney movie which it’s not then I was told it hadn’t been out for 2 weeks which it has. The manager refused to even speak to me about these things. This theater has upped its prices twice this year and the heat/ac doesn’t always work and the seats are old and busted. Now my rewards are going to expire when I’ve tried 3 times to use it and the bathrooms are broken. The staff has no customer service skills and the kids were harassed outside in the cold/dark while using the disgusting porta potties. What is the point of the rewards card if you can’t use it and what is the point of going to the movies if this is the experience. I will also be posting this on every review site and social media site possible. Super dissatisfied customer negative 5 stars given for this theater. Do not go to Klamath Falls pelican cinemas unless you want an expensive...
Read moreEvery time i go there the movie is off center, the sound is lagging by 2 seconds (yes that's a big deal because it makes the movie look like an old 70's chinese movie), and there was one time it was cut across the lower center. i could pass off the seats and prices if these things were fixed and upgraded but since there not...
the price for tickets and food is outrageous considering the quality of the theater rooms. the same arcade games from 1998 are still in the same places they were in 1998 with no additions or switch outs.
i went in to ask about applying for a job there but they were closed; no big deal just come back later right? well there were people at the concession stand ignoring my knocking (that was a couple months ago). they could have come to the door and reassessed that they were closed, nope. not even acknowledgement that i was there.
the owner needs to seriously think about changing things or lose all business to a theater an hour and a half away. more gas? yes. better quality? yes. i'd rather waste the gas and have a good experience at the movies than save gas and have a movie ruined and make this kind of review. pretty standard to not have a bar across the screen and make sure its center before running the movie. with such low traffic already going there it shouldn't take much to do a dummy run and make sure everything's running smooth.
1/5 stars for the reason above; have happened throughout the year and the...
