I purchased several guns on 8/15 and 8/22/2020 from Cabela’s in Lacey, WA. They had never contacted me before I called and never called back even though I left a voice message several times because of upcoming expiration date of each application. Finally I called police department on 9/15/2020 and got answer that they had not received anything from Cabela’s in Lacey. So I drove down there on 9/17 and reapplied for the rifle that I had purchased on 8/15 and double checked all faxes of other applications of those guns that I bought on 8/22 and confirmed whether my police department received those faxes and then I left. My police department passed my background check during my waiting in the store! So I could picked up two pistols but not one rifle. Next day(9/18) I worried about the rifle and called the police department of my city and fortunately they passed it as well. So I thought I could do pick up the rifle the next day (9/19) and tried picking up next day. When I called the store around 7:30 pm to pick up it, the manager told me that my rifle was avoided by his employee. What a bummer!? Anyway the manage helped me to reapply for the rifle even though it was late and gave me a discount coupon and I accepted it and asked him to set up date and time not to wait for picking up because I had waited 5-6 hours every visit even though I arrived there on 9 am. So the manager promised that he would take care of my case and there would be no waiting time if I arrived in my appointment. Today 9:30 am was my appointment and I arrived there exactly 9:30 am this morning but the other employee asked me to wait 20 min because they had something to do and my long long waiting starting again. I could not wait longer because I set up appointment at 10:30 and I asked them to keep the promise with explanation about what happened so far. And the employee called a manager and she started making things worse like being confused with the price of guns and kept asking me whether I had paid for those guns even though I told them that I had paid two guns already and one gun I needed to pay today. With double checking all my credit card, she confirmed that I had paid two guns as I had explained to her and she tried to check out the other gun. I had purchased Nemo XO 6.5 on 9/17 $2999 with sales event but she didn’t listen to my words and tried to double check the price and failed to find the price tag. Then she started insisting that I needed to pay $3799 to pick up the gun. From that time, I could not bear their ridiculous service and very unprofessional attitude and even I felt discrimination or ignorance. So I asked her for me to record this situation and she looked embarrassed and called her store manager. Even the store manger followed what she told but I was able to show the pictures that I had taken at that day. He honored the price but they failed me in so many ways. Till now, I have felt upset and I had felt stomachache during almost 3 hours waiting there. When I opened the box at my friend house in Lacey, I found that they didn’t remove store trigger lock and I had to revisit there to remove it. My initial appointment time was 9:30 am and all event was done around 3:30 pm. It was nightmare and I was so stressed when I revisited there because I didn’t know how long it would take and how ridiculously they treated me. They excused their so many mistakes and so many inconvenience to their customers due to corona virus and I tried accepting it but not any more.
Please shut down the door till you are prepared enough to treat your customers...
Read moreI have been hunting for 25+ years and shopped at Cabela's in the beginning. However, over the years I have slowly stopped going due to poor customer service and employees not having the proper knowledge of their products etc. I use them now as a last resort. I don't do reviews hardly at all either.
I had a hunting tripped planned that I had spent over $3,000 for. 3 days before going our gun safe wouldn't open. The company was 5 days out from fixing it. I needed a gun! I looked around and couldn't find a suitable gun so looked on Cabela's website. They had one that would work, and it said AVAILABLE TOMORROW FOR PICK UP. So, I ordered it along with a few other things. Next day got my email conformation order is ready for pick up but showed the gun as being shipped. I called and Jeniffer had no clue as to why and when asked for the corporate number she said she didn't have that either. I googled it and called corporate; was told that it does show the gun is available for pick up TODAY. They said they were not sure why it showed shipped and told me when I pick up my order to go in and ask. I went in and talked with one employee. I showed him my order, that it was paid etc. He first claimed it had not been paid. I assured him it had. Showed him the order again. He went back and then his managers came out. They said it doesn't show I paid. I showed them the order confirmation and that it was paid. The initial employee went back and CONFIRMED they had 2 of the guns there and that it shouldn't take much longer. After about 20mins, the managers both came out and said the gun is being shipped to the store and that there was nothing they could do that they DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE GUN THERE. I said, "But he checked and found 2". They started fumbling over their words and said he must have been mistaken that they didn't. That maybe the serial numbers were wrong. I was not rude AT ALL...but visibly upset. Now, I am out the $3,000+ for the hunt I can't go on because I spent the last of the trips budget on this gun. Plus, they can't BEGIN refund until the gun gets to their store. Then that is another 3-7 business days.
DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!! TRY TO SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES first. Cabela's/Bass Pro are just big box companies out for the dollar. They don't care.
P.S. I was able to get a partial refund from hunting company. Still out about $1,000. Once my gun comes in I won't be setting foot...
Read moreAvoid this place if you are purchasing any type of fire arms. This place is an absolute joke. Unless you have the better part of a day to burn waiting on them to do paperwork and dealing with rude attitudes, then this is your place. The first day I came in to buy a rifle, it was about a 3 hour process. 40 minutes of that were waiting on their manager to come out to check me out for a tax exemption. The other two hours were the outfitters behind the counter taking their time.
Fast forward to 1-11-25 They have not called to tell me my gun is ready. I had to call them to ask. Arrive at 12:15 and check in to get my gun. Finally get called to the counter about 1:45ish? The guy was pretty rude right off the get-go and telling me that an ID that a tribal identification card is not accepted and that I couldn’t have used it to buy a gun. Wanted a drivers license additionally. I asked for the manager. 10-15 minutes later a supervisor came out and not a manager that couldn’t answer anymore questions. Needless to say it was another 20-30 minutes of checks before I was able to leave the store with the new rifle.
I understand that Washington has made it tough to purchase firearms, however the experiences that I have had at Cabela’s the last two times are out of line. Last December, I believe it was, I was going to purchase a $2200.00 rifle and an $1800.00 optic to go on it. After and hour and a half of paperwork and trying to find mounting hardware for the optic, the guys helping me were full of attitude and smart remarks. I ended up walking out and went and bought a new rifle at coastal just down the road. Much better attitudes and timely process. I’ve spent a lot more money at Cabela’s since that date on various other stuff and I’ve had great experiences in all other departments. However, the gun department, With the exception of the heavier, set redheaded guy, Have all been terrible experiences. After the first go around trying to buy this rifle and close to 3 hours of my time, I did write to the store manager Via email and never got any response. I feel like this place used to be a great place to shop. And buy guns from. I will probably never buy a...
