Please read entirely. This is in regards to PC Repair.
I originally called Orange County PC Repair in Laguna Niguel to help fix an issue with my PC.
Here was my issue. I installed a new GPU and did not have the correct PSU to power it so I replaced it with my old one which was working. I could not get it past the black screen and "preparing automatic repair".
I called and spoke with Mike. He said he'd take a look at it but to bring it down to their Laguna Hills location, EZ Wireless.
I brought it down (Monday) and paid my $49 service fee. I explained the situation and he said he'll call me in an hour.
An hour passes and no call so I give it some time. First update was that he is flashing my memory and reloading windows. He'll call me in an hour when its done. I said perfect.
I called to follow up. He said the computer just shut down and he said that I possibly shorted something in the PSU. He asked if I unplugged my PC before working on it. I did. He says it's not turning on so you'll need a new PSU. He wanted to sell me a Cosair Gold 850w for $180 installed. I figured why not, I need one for my new GPU. He said it would be here the next morning. He also mentioned he would call me in the morning.
The next day (Tuesday), I called late in the morning and Mike said that it would be here at 1pm and he would call me. He also stated instead of the Cosair Gold 850w he would install a PowerSpec 650w and save me some money. I figured cool. That's fine.
I called at at 2:30pm or something like that and Mike said that there is a bunch of wires and it's going to take some time before they can get it running. It'll be available the next morning. He said things like “this can’t be rushed”. I'm a patient guy so I said fine.
At about 3:30pm I get a call from Mike. He said the computer won’t boot and recommended a new motherboard and CPU. He recommended a Ryzen 5 CPU. I cant remember the motherboard, but he was asking $600-$700. I said no and I will be by to pick up my computer. Keep in mind, my computer was able to boot up to a black screen but stalled.
During my drive, Mike sent me a text saying he has parts for the computer for $400. I ignored it as I was on my way to EZ Wireless.
I arrived to the shop and the computer was on the floor. Mike said sorry and pointed to the computer. I went to pick it up I noticed a screw was missing so I asked for it. He brought it from the back and I put it back on to secure the panel.
I placed the computer on my front seat of my car and flipped it where I can see through the clear panel. I noticed my ram was missing. I went back in and said I'm missing it and again he went into the back and grabbed it. I installed it.
I took it home and tried to troubleshoot it myself. I plugged my PC back in to see if it will turn on. It did. Not a PSU issue. But now it's not recognizing a drive. I never had this issue before...so I went in to take a look and noticed they didn’t connect the power to my hard drive. So I connected it and boom it recognized the driver.
Now I'm back to square one. It won’t load past the black screen with the blue windows.
I gave it a day and I returned back to it (now Wednesday). Did some adjustments in the BIOS and then the computer booted back up. Memory is wiped but now it's working!
I hate to write negative reviews but this place deserves it. They tried to SCAM me into a new computer that I did not need.
No way! I have basic understanding of computers and know when to trust my gut when things don’t seem right.
Please avoid Mike at EZ Wireless aka Orange County PC Repair in Laguna Niguel. He'll try to sell you a computer you don’t need or repairs that are unnecessary. And not properly put your computer...
Read morePLEASE READ. DO NOT GET YOUR PHONE REPAIRED HERE. I was 99% sure my charging port was bad. I spoke to the owner who said my phone would be repaired by 10AM the next day. I called at 10, sorry phone won't be fixed till 3. I call at 3, 3:10, 3:20, ect. No answer. Finally around 4 he picks up and says it's not the charging port, your motherboard is dead, you need to buy a new phone. I ended up buying a new phone that was the same model as my old phone. I got home and put the new charged battery in my old phone. Sure enough it works. I then closely examined my old phone, the back screwed in panel was never removed. He either forgot to order my part or got busy and decided that he didn't want to take the time to fix it, so he lied. His lie cost me the price of a new phone. I went back and told him what I just stated. I then added that he could fix my phone at no cost and return my $20 deposit. He then tells me that he's not going to fix it because of my attitude. I actually got a smile and said, I knew you were not going to fix it because you have no character or integrity. Look, he could have maned up, been honest, fixed my phone and it would have been forgiven. Instead, he got this awesome review. There are plenty of phone repair places around. I shopped around for a replacement screen for my Google Nexus 5x, and EZ-TECH came up as my best option for price ($95) and for reviews nearby. They ordered a screen and the next day I dropped my phone off for a couple hours to get it fixed.
Unfortunately, when we turned it on it was clear there was an issue. There was a green line through the screen, and I had an international trip the next morning - there was no time to get another screen ordered in. On my trip, the faulty screen went from bad to worse, making the phone inoperable. I had to have it repaired out of country so I'd have a phone to use, and never got the faulty screen back.
When I returned, I called EZ-TECH for a refund. They were in a tough spot because without the screen, they're out of pocket for the $58 screen. They offered to refund the labour price via check - fair, given the circumstances. However, the cheque arrived with a nice note, and a full refund for the entire price.
