Update and Note 9-20-23: Most of my review relates to the Farmer's Insurance company itself and not their agent, Chris Wagner. When Chris became aware of the below, he immediately engaged with me and started taking immediate steps to rectify all issues -- he was even willing to pay for a second tree trimmer to come to my second home to cut even more off the trees, so I appreciated his willingness to do that. And after speaking with him it became apparent that Farmer's utilized aerial surveilling of other customers, and many were not pleased about that. Perhaps I'm from an older generation, but I like to be informed when my property is being surveyed, and in the days of yore the agents came out and spoke with you personally if there were any concerns with trees or the like. I preferred that.
I was with Farmer's for 7-8 years prior to the following. First, for my two homes, this year (2023) Farmer's increased my rates increased over 30%. I thought, ok... It's extreme, but everything is going up. For my second home, I got a notice of cancellation out of the blue from Farmer's --- Farmer's had apparently surveilled my property from above without my knowledge or consent and then sent me a cancellation notice unless I removed nearby tree limbs or proved they were not touching the roof. I initially sent 6-7 photos thinking that would do it, and it didn't. I wasn't aware there was still an issue until I received a formal notice of cancellation in the mail that was also sent to my bank. I paid a tree trimmer $1000 to scale everything back, went out in the 100 degree weather, and sent over 50 more photos, and that still didn't prove to Farmer's that the tree limbs were not touching the house, and it appeared one particular limb was still too close. Put some of the photos in the review -- judge for yourself. I eventually chose to switch carriers for my homeowner's policies.
I do not believe these issues are the fault of the agent, but the policies and decisions of Farmer's...
Read moreWe had a friend recommend Farmers Insurance and at the time we really weren’t in the market (because our insurance carrier was already pretty reasonable). We ended up stopping in to get a quote anyways and not only did Chris offer to increase our coverage, he lowered our home and auto policies by over a thousand a year!! We were shocked. We immediately switched to Farmers and haven’t regretted the switch since. The thing is, every year since we’ve joined, this particular office re-evaluates our policies to see if they can save us money. Christina and Chris called us weeks ago to tell us they’ve found ways to save us a little more money on our policies and we came back in yesterday. They were able to save another two thousand a year by rewriting our policies!! I’ve never heard of an insurance carrier trying to give you back money. No matter what, we’ve always been able to call with questions and every staff member we’ve ever spoken with has been professional, helpful, and friendly. We will never go anywhere else for our...
Read moreI was with the Varner Agency in Jefferson City and was extremely satisfied and happy with them , when she went on her own and opened her own business I stayed with farmers because it offered a better rate I was grouped into the Wagner Agency in lake Ozark and after a couple months was involved in an accident where someone else hit me and I called asking for help since the other insurance company had not contacted me in 2 weeks , the man on the phone was not helpful at all and told me Because I had liability they wouldn’t help me , completely rude to me and had no idea about the information or phone call I had with them 2 weeks ago , he even told me that they hadn’t written anything down because I didn’t have full cover even though I tried multiple times to explain to him that I wasn’t at fault and was just trying to find out a contact number for State Farm . VERY DISAPPOINTED with this agency and will be looking for someone new that actually cares about...
