Looking for picture frames, I visited Helping Hands in Lake Stevens yesterday. I had been there several times before. I found out that some good sales were going on, so I spent a great deal of time browsing and trying on clothes, and I accumulated a large number of items to purchase. At the register, I learned that their internet was down so they could only take cash payments. I did not have cash on me, but our next stop was Costco up the road. I asked if they could hold my items, because I would get cash at Costco, then purchase my items at Helping Hands on the way back with the cash I would get. The manager was at first unwilling to hold my items, and was actually telling other customers and me to go get cash at the nearby marijuana dispensary. I was not interested in that option, as I am sure others were also uninterested. She said she would hold it for one hour and was very rude about it. Turned out my husband had some cash in the car, and as the clerk was ringing up my items, the card reader came back online.
The next set of problems occurred with the very inept cashier. She rang me up for an item I was not purchasing and did not give me a 50% discount on two items that were supposed to be 50% off. The total of the amount I was overcharged was around $17.00. The store was unable to refund me for the overcharge, so gave me a gift card (as if I would ever want to return to the store again). There was a long line of people behind me, and the very kind person right behind me in line gave me a $20 bill in exchange for the $17 gift card I had just been given.

Read moreThis place is a treasure trove! They have a little bit of everything. I scored some Hannah Anderson pants for my toddler for only a couple bucks, and their sales are amazing. $.99 clothes on Thursday’s and Fridays, and $.25 on saturdays! I just might have to make a weekly donation and scope out the new stuff as part of our routine.
The manager was super friendly, hooked me up with coupons and the latest scoop on sales, and didn’t give me any grief for my feral children running around like total heathens while I paid our super tiny bill and then walked out with 2 bags full.
For major bonus points, they support a children’s cause.
I am one happy Mama right...
Read moreI find them to be over priced & when calling to get to check to see if they have a particular item they say they don't know & dont have time to check & they have no idea of price. I also called for a charitable group to ask for help & they are to busy to help anyone charity even of you are trying to BUY BULK @ FULL PRICE. Very rdisappointing S the has happened numerous times they even have gone so far as to take something they were checking in that I wanted to buy & told me I couldn't buy it cause they were keeping it for themselves!! So my take away is that it is only a charity for the people who own the shop or work there I cannot seem to find where they actually are helping anyone...
