I am so happy I found Aphrodite Designs to handle the alterations on my wedding dress!

I found my dream dress at Calvet Couture in Winter Park. I’d traveled there for a Hayley Paige trunk show with high hopes that one of her brand-new dresses would be “the one.” Instead, I ended up falling in love with Hayley Paige’s “Rogers” gown, an older style that the shop was selling a sample of.

The sample was 3 to 4 sizes too big for me, so purchasing it was admittedly a big risk and I knew I’d need to find an incredible seamstress to make the proper adjustments. But it was my dream dress, so I took the chance!

I feel so lucky I found Maria and Aphrodite Designs to save the day. My dress was a ball gown with several layers of tulle, delicate lace bell sleeves, and lots of hand-beaded appliqués and sequins. The top part of the bodice would have to cut and resized. But Maria never gave me any doubt she could get the job done. We had three fitting appointments from October to December, and she listened attentively to all of my requests. She was so sweet to me and my mom, and truly just a pleasure to work with.

My dress was perfect on the day of, and you never would have known there was a time it didn’t fit me.

I feel like seamstresses are one of those unsung vendors that don’t get as much credit as your big ticket vendors like a caterer or a florist. But Maria was truly one of the best people I hired, and I can’t imagine my day being as perfect as it was without her...

I can not recommend this place enough. Maria seriously saved me from a complete emergency. I had my dress altered at what I thought was a reputable dress shop. I’m pregnant and I trusted my bridesmaid dress to another shop. They had my dress for two weeks and I told them I needed to take it out because it was too tight. When I went to pick it up, it was just as tight as when I brought it in. They told me I gained weight and there was nothing they could do. I was devastated. My husband contacted Aphrodite Designs & Alterations and Maria told him to bring in my dress and she would see what she could do. She informed my husband they did not do anything to take it out and that she would help get my dress ready in time. Maria fixed my dress in record time and it fits beautifully. Was looking every where to have my mom’s wedding dress altered to fit myself. I found Aphrodite on google and after reading some reviews I reach out to Maria. She is very quick to respond; she informed me she would be going on vacation and would be able to take me in on August 2 (we’re eloping on the 25th). I made sure she had enough time and sure enough we did! In the matter of three weeks my dress was altered perfectly. It really could’ve been two weeks, but I had one very minor request to pull in the bust a little tighter which wasn’t fully necessary but I wanted it to fit pretty snug.
