So woke up in a great mood last Sunday. We haven't been to Costco in a few months. So we decided to go renew our membership and go buy something fun at Costco for ourselves along with our normal bulk supplies that were running low on. Boy oh boy how naive. Little did I realize how badly this day would go. So we walk into Costco at 11. I scan my membership at the door. We walked in about 15 ft. Then I remember we need a cart. So I walk back out the door. Then my girl reminded she's hungry and I said oh no problem. Let's go get a hotdog first. So we walk into the exit. Lady checking receipts stop us. This was new. I said what seems to be the matter. She said in a very demanding voice "where are you going". I said to get some food? She goes no. You can't do that. You have to go in the front door and scan. Then walk around in the store. Then I can eat. I was like what? But wait. I did scan. And also I need to renew my membership. She said okay. I walk up to the food court. Holy cow the manager was waiting for us! She was staring at us like filthy scum of human beings. I said hey what's up? She says you told that lady you were going to renew but now you're at the food court. I said yeah I told her we were doing both probably cause we are hungry and then I wanted to go the counter cause I had some questions about my renewal. I explain to her that I did scan in. Showed her Costco card with my face printed on it. That we were hungry then gonna renew. You'd thinking I was speaking French to her. Never once considered my side of the story. I was obviously some master criminal trying to steal a 1$ hot dog. Good job manager of Costco for escalating a situation for no good reason. That manager needs to take a chill pill. Lost 2 customers for life. All because you wanted us to "walk around" before we can eat? I've been going to Costco for 20 years. One bad egg can spoil whole experience. Signed up for...
Read moreI wish there was an option for Zero Stars!! Everytime my wife and I go to this particular Costco we have an issue. Lines are always long, and store associates are always rude and not helpful. Today was the last straw for us shopping at this particular Costco in Lancaster, PA. Most likely when our membership expires we will spend the extra time and money traveling to our closest Sam's Club which is an extra 20 minutes where our shopping experience is appreciated. Back to my experience today... As my wife and I were placing our items on the belt to pay for them I pulled out my phone (because it is 2024 and there is an app for everything) and showed the cashier the membership card QR code to scan. She then asked if I was on the account and I stated I don't believe so and she said I will need to see your membership card. I then said I don't have a separate one and she continued scanning our items no big deal. I then still had my phone out and decided I would tap to pay with my phone. As I tapped with my phone to pay with my wife's debit card, the cashier then stated to me that I am not allowed to pay unless I showed her my Costco membership card. I said it is my wife's debit card and she said it doesn't matter, my wife had to pay. So you mean to tell me my wife has to tap my phone? What difference does it make who swipes card or taps a phone to pay? They are still getting paid. I realize policies are policies but this is a pretty dumb one and it's not like my wife wasn't with me, she was standing right next to me. If that is the policy the cashier could have been a bit nicer to explain the policy since I am the paying customer. She also could have mentioned this when scanning my membership card and realized I was not the card holder before she wastes my time and scanned all...
