I usually love shopping at At Home and the staff is usually very welcoming and helpful until this morning! I made a visit to At Home this morning hoping to use a gift card I received a few months ago to no avail. I had no idea the card was quote on quote “not readable” by the payment processor. The cashier was then very condescending and proceeded to ask me questions pertaining to where I received the card from and how much was on it as if I’m trying to scam or something. I understand asking questions can help resolve a problem but the tone and the delivery was extremely rude and she was simply unwilling to help. Granted, the gift card or store card only had about $30 at the most on it and I was completely ok with just paying for my purchase with my debit card or credit card but it was the unwillingness to help that was just unacceptable and I refuse to be treated that way while patronizing a business. The cashier proceeded to tell me I need to call the customer service number and figure it out and put my card on top of my purse as if she was dismissing me out of the store (WOW). She didn’t even ask if there was another payment method I would like to use, just simply dismissed me and was ready to take the next customers money. I then asked to speak with the store manager and Alex (would not provide last name) showed up, attempted to swipe the card again and then told me the card wasn’t working and there is nothing they can do. I proceed to ask questions to understand the logic of a company telling a customer to call or email Customer service because a gift card they issued is not reading on their machine due to some type of malfunction. I was completely loss for words on how both the cashier and Alex the store manager in Lutz FL could lack not only basic customer service but also empathy! Next thing I know, Alex proceeds to walk off when I asked if they could call customer service for me since I was in the store. As Alex the store manager in Lutz FL is walking off, he is also telling me I needed to call customer service myself on a Sunday morning. I never leave negative company reviews because I never really had to honestly but I felt compelled to vocalize this level of poor service to my community. I need people to know what to expect if you ever either receive a gift card, store credit etc and the financial risk associated with attempting to use the card on top of the poor service you will receive in an attempt to remedy the situation. And by the way, I sat in the parking lot for 30 minutes and called the customer service number on the back of the card per instructed and you can’t even speak with a person and no info is provided when you enter card details!!! Wasted time and money. I will be sure to share this information on all social media platforms because At Home policies regarding gift cards and store credits need to...
Read moreHorrible customer service. I've been shopping at this store ever since it opened. I wanted to purchase a Christmas item that was on sale, but I wasn't 100% sure if I wanted it. It was the last one so I wanted to take it and see if it would fit the space that I had in mind. I asked one the employees who has worked at the store for a very long time if I could still return it at the price I paid even if I decided to not keep it. She said yes, no worries. She even offered to open the box to check and see if the lights on the trees worked as I was debating whether or not to buy it. After she did that and reassured me that I could return it at the price I paid, I decided to go ahead and get it to see if worked in the place I wanted. Well it didn't. So today I tried to return it and they wouldn't even take my receipt. Well first of all the two people at the registers ignored me for several minutes. One was too busy cleaning and the other was talking to her. They finally acknowledged me and didn't ask for the receipt and just scanned the item. They said 16.99 will be your refund. I was confused as I paid 29.99. They said they can't honor the price of clearance even with a receipt. I then proceeded to tell them the situation on the day that I bought it. They could care less and didn't want to hear me out. They didn't even know corporates 800 number. Now I have to wait for someone to email me back because they don't have a corporate office customer service number. It only directs you to email a form. How ridiculous. Made me feel so belittled. I get it there's a policy, but when an employee tells you something, I believe it especially knowing that this employee has worked at the store for a very long time. I don't like making complaints and getting people in trouble, but I want to be given a full refund as that what was told to me. Or I wouldn't have purchased it. Waiting for customer service to...
Read moreWhile shopping in the retail store at Home located in Lutz, FL, I came across several items I was interested in purchasing for my home; however, I had a question about a particular item. I approached a store worker who was on the same isle at the moment. I approached the worker by saying excuse me. The worker replied yeah what’s up? It caught me off guard because who answers a customer like that. I carried on and said excuse me. The worker proceeds to say I said yeah what’s up? I said you don’t answer customer like that. He proceeds to say well I always do no matter who they are and what age they are. I said well never mind. And I walked away. I went back to get his name which his name is Will and then I asked Will is his manager is available. Will said he is the manager. I said oh really. Then I asked who’s over him he said he doesn’t know the person’s name. And I said okay thank you and I also told Will, I’m not trying or wanting to argue with you, but I have worked in retail before and this not how you respond nor interact with a customer. I also, told Will thank you and have a nice day. Will, yelled out I don’t know why you just won’t ask the question. I proceed to walk away and went to the from and requested to speak with the store manager. The store manager came to the front saying hi are you looking for me..no introduction or anything stating who he is. I spoke with the store manager (Dometrius), he expressed some empathy, but not sincere. He did not ask how he can assist me or anything. He just said he will talk to Will and that’s unacceptable. It gave me the impression that they were indifferent to customer feedback, and it left me feeling unheard and frustrated! at Home needs to reevaluate who’s their employees further more who they have in...
