Short version:
âââââ Worst dental experience Iâve ever had. No one answers the phone, check-in took over an hour even with no line, and the staff was unprofessional and unwelcoming. The dental assistants struggled with basic tasks, were rude, and left me mid-procedure. The dentist was difficult to understand, no one introduced themselves, and I even overheard staff talking negatively in Spanish. Completely disorganized, disrespectful, and not a place Iâd ever return to.
Long version:
âââââ Worst dental experience Iâve ever had.
Calling this place is a complete jokeâno one ever picks up the phone, so forget about confirming appointments. You just have to hope you got the right info when scheduling in person.
Check-in took over an hour, even though I was the only patient at the desk with three receptionists sitting there. When I was finally sent to the dental area, it felt unwelcoming and empty, with patients looking miserable and staff energy matching that same level of care.
The dental assistants were unprofessional and unprepared. One asked if I preferred English or Spanish, I said English, yet she continued speaking only Spanish. She struggled so much with basic tasks (like putting on a lead vest) that I had to do it myself. She repeated every X-ray, mishandled the machine, and left me alone mid-process. A second assistant stepped in, but instead of being helpful, she was short and unpleasant, as if I was inconveniencing her.
When the dentist (Dr. Javier A. Velez Betancourt) finally arrived, communication was just as frustratingâI had to ask him to repeat everything because he was difficult to hear and understand. For the record, I just had a normal audiogram, so it wasnât my hearing. No one introduced themselves, no one explained what was happening, and when they were done, they literally just disappeared. I had to ask if I was finished, only to overhear staff talking negatively in Spanish before telling me, âYou can go, youâre done.â
Overall, this was by far the worst dental experience Iâve ever had. From the front desk to the dentist, the service was unprofessional, disorganized, and disrespectful. I wouldnât recommend Gateway Community Health Center â South...
Read moreEverything went well till i got frustrated calling and telling the staff to call in my prescription for the past 2-3 day. They assured me they were gonna call it in before i left my appt which was on 8am and they didnât. i kept calling the pharmacy if they have it ready and they said they havenât even received my information.Till this day (3 days later) i havenât received it yet. Also before going into my appt i was running 5 mins late so i called to let them know and the lady responded âpero no se pudo venir con tiempo maâamâ like eso no se dice. You don't say that to a patient. Being a part of a medical staff myself thatâs disrespectful. Would give it 1 star but the doctor was very nice and...
Read moreI needed to see a dentist so I call for a walk-in the next day. Registration staff really needs better training. My insurance wasnât accepted and they wanted me to pay $300 for a walk-in because the dentist they scheduled me with was not in my network. I gave them my insurance information when I made the appointment. They called me before my appointment and didnât care to leave a message. Patient care is suppose to be their priority but Gateway doesnât seem to care much about having patients traveling to various locations only to be told they canât provide services. The worse patient care...
