Rent at your own risk. Where should I start with all the issues I've ran into in dealing with this business.....from the broken gate staying open overnight and letting anyone in to the amount of nails, screws, and other trash on the ground waiting to flatten a tire. Since there aren't any actual employee's working at the facility during business hrs and an overworked maintenance man who is only there a few hrs a week....these things go unseen and aren't addressed. Also if you have pet allergies be warned, for months I had a cat getting into my bay and getting all over my personal items from the bay beside me. I am allergic to cats and told the maintenance man when he was actually there about it. Months later I still was having to try and put up barriers inside my bay to block this cat from entering. It's not just the locations that don't have actual employee's working, it's also the call center that is only capable of "passing on" messages about issues. Such as the gate not working until 10pm as posted because nobody bothered to change the timer for daylight savings. If your driving from far away all loaded up expecting the gate to work during hrs this would be an unacceptable and a costly inconvenience. Now, they do communicate well at times. Like when they raised the rent from $219 a month to $253 in less than a years time....Because being totally automated and employee free location must really be a costly way to run a business, lol. Do yourself a favor and rent somewhere else. I can't get my 10x30 emptied out and my things actually safe and secure again...
Read moreI wish I could give this place a 0 rating. My father had a health emergency and was medically deemed incapable of caring for himself and in turn unable to manage his finances and unable to pay his storage facility rent. Before leaving from Florida to take care of his personal things, I contacted this storage facility and was told as long I brought the appropriate documentation proving I was his next of kin, I would be let into the unit to retrieve family photos or any important legal documents. Upon arrival to Delaware, I called to ask to be let in to the unit and was denied access. I was told I needed to pay the remaining bill to be let in. When asked what would happen to the personal items after the unit was put up for auction, I was told that the family photos and important documents would be placed in a box and the family would be notified. I reiterated that I am his only family and I would be the one to pick them up however they still wouldn’t release them to me. They shouldn’t have lied to me on the phone prior to my trip up here, only to be told I’m not aloud in. I don’t recommend using this...
Read moreI started off on the phone thinking about how much I was going to want to probably just hang up. But from the time the guy on the other end picked up he was very polite and courteous he told me that everything was going to be okay today he was going to make sure I got everything I needed and he sure enough did. By the time I was done he walked me through the online steps so that by the time he was done with my phone call all I had to do was go to my storage unit and put my stuff in it. I just want to give Hearthfire Self Storage a big thank you for allowing me to be one of your proud customers. Thank you everyone and have...
