Out of the Attic Antique Mall — Local services in Laurel

The way a business handles a mistake reveals more about their integrity than anything else. Originally, I gave Out of the Attic Antique Mall a one-star review. I'm revising that review because of their exceptional customer service response to my complaint.

A week ago, I called ahead to inquire about an item posted on the internet. I told Andy, the store employee who answered the phone, that I wanted the item. Even after informing Andy that I would be leaving after work and was over two hours away to pick up the item...they closed the store early. I arrived 20 minutes before closing time. To waste six hours driving there and back, a complete waste of gas and tolls, especially after specifically calling ahead was extremely upsetting and disheartening.

After getting my message, the owner called me personally to apologize. He was genuine and sincere. He didn't offer excuses or cop outs; although, he did attribute lack of communication as the problem. Furthermore, he offered a more than reasonable store credit to compensate for the inconvenience I experienced. In the end, I decided to accept the owner's offer. I traveled another five plus hours (leaving earlier this time, just in case) and I'm glad I did. Dark, kinda dirty and rather cheap. Not much as far as farmer market style places go. My family was afraid to eat there even though honestly the restaurant in the place looked to be the cleanest spot in the building. The motorcycle place was full of stuff I'm sure HD enthusiasts would not want to miss and as is true of most of these places there was one little shop with a few hidden treasures. Seemed like alot of nice stuff in this store, but we didn't stay very long to find out thanks to the man behind the counter with the German Shepherd dog. Twice in 5 minutes this dog just barked loudly and aggressively at another customer & almost gave me a heart attack. Made shopping here very uncomfortable, so we left hoping next time we go there won't be a loud aggressive attack dog behind the counter startling...
