Durći Chocolate — Local services in Lebanon

When you step into the doors of this place, you will think that you've somehow been transported to an artisanal chocolate shop somewhere in an exclusive part of Europe!

Make sure you understand what you're getting into before you go here. This is not a "chocolate shop." This is the kind of place that chocolate travelers like me plan a whole trip around! I've been to Seattle just to go to Theo's factory, and San Francisco just to see TCHO. Same for many other places on earth. THIS is that level of quality! Right here in Tennessee!

Eric Durtschi and his family make their own chocolate from beans they buy directly (and exclusively) from farmers in several different countries.

This is not the chocolate you grew up on. It's ORIGIN chocolate. Every single type of bar tastes different because of the particular farm it comes from, based on the acidity of the soil, or the type of insect that pollinates it, or the fact that it's grown among banana trees, or the fermentation method, or the elevation and rainfall, or any of hundreds of location-specific characteristics.

I taste a LOT of origin chocolate bars from all over the world and my absolute fave is Durći's "Chocolate Chip Cookie and Fleur De Sel" bar based on their Carenero chocolate from Venezuela. If they have it when you go, snatch up all you can buy.

It's not cheap. Don't expect chocolate of this quality to ever be. It's made right in Durći's facilities by hand. In fact, I'm not sure that they make a lot of money at it because it's so labor intensive.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Durci! These people are passionate about making delicious artisan chocolate attainable, while providing education about cacao in a way that is easy to understand and appreciate.
