I've been putting off this review for about a year and a half. We have mixed feelings about our experience with Mountain States. Pros: We love all the options available within the package deal. We went with the cheapest finishes and still felt like they were high quality and mostly beautiful. If we asked Jerry to add the nice drawer dividers for silverware, glass in some of the uppers, a barn door detail on the end of the island, etc., he did at no extra cost. We love everything about our island. It turned out gorgeous, including the vertical v-groove shiplap and quartz countertop. We also have an older home with wonky floors and walls. Mauricio, our installer, was amazing and did an extremely excellent job of working with our crazy home. He was also very professional and respectful. We felt like we were getting our dream kitchen…almost… Cons: We asked Jerry what the turn around time was, and he said about 5 weeks. That same day, June 30th, we wrote him a check for 50%. We didn't have everything finished until September 15th, which was 11 weeks and a lot of nagging and a corner cut (see below). We ordered the standard 3 cm (about 1 1/8 in.) countertops. Our island was just that, but the surrounding countertops were the ¾ in. wrapped around (except on the windowsill which looks like just 3/4 in.) so it looks like 1 ½ in. So there are 3 different widths of countertops and honestly looks ridiculous. We feel cheated on that account. When we asked Jerry about it he said, “Because you wanted it sooner.” Well, we wanted what we ordered in the 5 weeks that he had talked about, not 11 weeks that it ended up to be, several of those weeks without a kitchen sink and no one giving us any answers about our countertops. It was extremely frustrating. It turned out the right thickness of countertops had been back ordered even though Jerry kept telling us we had all the time in the world before we needed to get the countertop ordered. We did NOT agree to have him switch the thickness on us. In addition, we wanted the cabinets on the perimeter to be white. Jerry talked us into a “barely barely off-white” that was “the most popular shade of white.” We keep beating ourselves up for not making him show us a swatch. It’s a mucky shade of white and we hate it. It looks putrid next to our white doors and sink. Finally, the pantry cabinets have a glass opening on the doors about 2/3 of the way up. For some strange reason they left the lower part natural wood inside, and the part above the glass opening was painted white inside. The problem was the line between them was higher than the glass opening. Jerry offered to have them remake the doors so the glass was smaller and the line wouldn't show, but we didn't want that small of an opening so we told him we would just deal with it. Bottom line, the cabinets are good quality for a good deal. However, don't count on any sort of a timeline, and make sure while working with a salesman to ask them every little detail of everything. And I mean everything, so they won't pull any fast ones on you.

We recently had Mountain States Kitchen and Bath install new cabinets in our kitchen and we are really happy with the results. From start to finish, the entire experience was great. The quality of the cabinets is outstanding, made with only hardwood and laminate plywood - no particleboard here. The team was always on time, meeting their schedules and keeping their appointments. They provided solid bids that were transparent and accurate. Throughout the process, they answered all of our questions and even gave suggestions on how to handle the rip-out ourselves and suggestions on related projects such as ripping up the floor and putting down luxury vinyl plank. They educated us on the relevant building codes for our area. They gave us recommendations on where to bring the electricity up to the door floor. We do want to emphasize the importance of paying close attention when signing off on the specifications to ensure that everything is to your liking, as they do build cabinets exactly to the specifications provided. They suggested a new island configuration that gave us more room in the kitchen, but at the same time provided better counter top space and more cabinet space. This was a brilliant solution that we had not considered before, and we are so grateful for their expertise. The room now feels much bigger. Communication was excellent, and they kept us informed as the installation approached and when we set dates on the calendar, they kept them. The cabinets were built exactly to specification (thus it’s really important to pay close attention to the specs when you sign off.) The installation was flawless - perfectly level and perfectly placed. The doors and drawers are perfectly aligned and close softly. The final trim work fit over the new floor perfectly. We were truly impressed. The cabinets are absolutely stunning and when we wanted a couple of extra shelves, they provided them without hesitation. Finally, the granite work was beautiful. They did each section in a solid piece (the old granite had seams), which looks fantastic. They worked with us on using the remnant granite in bathrooms. Overall, we highly recommend Mountain States Kitchen and Bath for anyone looking for top-quality kitchen cabinets and installation. Their dedication to their craft is evident in every aspect of their work, and we couldn't be happier with the results. ONE YEAR LATER: We still love our cabinets. I was a little nervous when we chose white. However after a year, no visible wear can be seen on any of them, even the doors of under the sink, which probably get the most opening / closing, food dropped, etc. The white finish is amazing and wipes up like a dream. The plywood used in these, especially the shelves is resilient and strong. The finish is excellent. Still very happy with our experience.

Excellent quality cabinets, custom fit, precision install, fair price, great service. When we called for an estimate, Jerry Sims was available and showed up on time. He gave us a ton of great advice, 3-D color renderings, and a quote on the spot, without any funny stuff. No crazy upsells. No inflated estimates that had to be negotiated down with gimmicks or other nonsense. In fact, he made suggestions that would help keep the costs down. When we wanted to make changes, and more changes, Jerry was always patient and accommodating. When we wanted some unusual features, pull-outs, and other upgrades, he was again patient and accommodating. He suggested an appliance store and worked with them to design and size the cabinets appropriately for the appliances we selected. He coordinated with the slab yards where we picked out our granite, and with Rock Solid, who did an awesome job with the countertops and sink, including a waterfall edge, and granite backsplash on the range wall. Mauricio is not only the nicest person you will ever meet, he is a real craftsman. Jeff gave us the white glove treatment. He never tried to rationalize or invalidate any question or concern, no matter how minor or slight. He promised to take care of every detail to our satisfaction, and did. Jorge from Rock Solid also has a great team and provided excellent service. We would highly recommend Mountain States, Jerry, and team for your kitchen renovation.

IN SEPTEMBER OF 2015 WE WERE LOOKING FOR SUBCONTRACTORS AND INFORMATION REGARDING THE REMODEL OF OUR HOME. WE CONTACTED A SOLAR COMPANY WE FOUND ON-LINE.. WE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR THEM TO COME DISCUSS THIS WITH US. AT THAT TIME THEY INFORMED US THEY ALSO DID CABINETS, COUNTER-TOPS, WINDOWS, AND MANY OTHER ITEMS. WE THOUGHT THAT WAS GREAT AND THEY SENT THEIR CONTACT TO US TO DISCUSS THE POTENTIAL FOR UTILIZING THEM FOR THIS WORK. WE MET SEVERAL TIMES AND FINALIZED OUR PROJECT TO INCLUDE ALL CABINETS, WINDOWS, SINKS, COUNTER-TOPS ETC.

WE FEEL THEY OFFER A BAIT AND SWITCH PROGRAM FOR A WIDE VARIETY OF REASONS: SENT BY THE SOLAR COMPANY, THEY TOLD US ALL SINKS WE WANTED AFTER SHOWING THEM THE TYPES OF SINKS WE WERE LOOKING AT WERE INCLUDED, WE TOLD THEM WE WANTED QUARTZ COUNTERS AND SHOWED THEM THE TYPE OF MATERIALS WE WANTED THAT WAS COMPARABLE IN THEIR SHOP. WHEN WE WENT TO THE STORES THEY SENT US WE WERE MADE TO SELECT OTHER MATERIALS BECAUSE THEY SAID IT WASN'T IN OUR PRICE, WHEN WE WENT TO PICK OUT OUR SINKS TOLD THE ONLY THING WE HAD WAS A PLAIN WHITE SINK IN OUR BUDGET.

WE HAD MULTIPLE FAILED ISSUES SUCH AS THE WINDOWS WE PICKED OUT AND TOLD THEM WE WANTED WAS A CHOCOLATE BROWN AND WHEN DELIVERED THEY STARTED TO INSTALL WERE AN ALMOND COLOR, WAS TOLD THE ONLY FIX WAS TO PAINT THEM AND WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT, WE HAD NUMEROUS MISMEASUREMENTS, MISSED WINDOWS THAT WERE CLEARLY ON OUR PLAN, THEY BROUGHT THE REAR WINDOWS AND OUR FRAMER TOLD US THEY WERE THE WRONG SIZE. WHEN CONTACTED THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO REORDER AND WE WOULD HAVE TO EAT THE COST OF WINDOWS. THEY SAID THEY WOULD BRING THE OTHERS OUT FOR US TO USE IF WE WANTED SOMEWHERE ELSE, BUT NEVER DID. THEY WANTED US TO PAY FOR THESE EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THEIR ISSUE AND THEY STILL HAD THE WINDOWS. DUE TO ALL THE ISSUES WE MADE AN AGREEMENT TO NOT PAY FOR ANYTHING FURTHER UNTIL DELIVERED ALL MATERIALS TO THE JOB. THEY NEVER DELIVERED ALL MATERIALS. THEY TRIED TO EXTORT MORE MONEY FROM US EVEN THOUGH THEY NEVER HAD ALL THE MATERIALS AT OUR HOME FOR INSTALLATION. WE HAD TO COMPLAIN OVER AND OVER ABOUT THEM PULLING THEIR INSTALLER OFF THE JOBSITE AS WE WERE GOING TO BE HOMELESS AND HAD A TIMEFRAME TO MEET. THEY PROMISED THEY WOULD MEET OUR DEADLINE BUT NEVER DID. THEY CONTINUED TO TRIED TO EXTORT THE FINAL PAYMENT FROM US WHEN THEY HAVE NEVER HAD ALL MATERIALS ON SITE. THEY HAVE PRODUCED SUBPAR WORK LIKE THE COUNTERS WHICH ARE NOT FINISHED, THEY HAVE NEVER PROVIDED ALL THE INSERTS THEY PROMISED, THEY HAVE MADE CABINETS IN THE BASEMENT THAT ARE NOT DEEP ENOUGH TO HOLD ADEQUATE STORAGE, THEY HAVE LEFT A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN THE ISLAND AS IT ISN'T SUPPORTED AND WE HAVE GRANDCHILDREN, THEY HAVE USED MATERIALS THAT ARE NOT EVEN MATCHING SUCH AS THE FACING ON TH PENINSULA, THEY HAVE BROUGHT DOORS THAT WERE SOLID WHEN THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE GLASS IN THEM, THEY HAVE MADE A CABINET THAT COVERS OUR DRYER VENT AND WE CAN'T USE THE VENT, THEY HAVE ROUGH SEEMS, SCRATCHES IN THE COUNTERS, THEY NEVER MADE AN ADEQUATE STAND FOR THE REFRIGERATORS TO STAND ON, THEY HAVE CABINETS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE ACCESSIBLE STORE INSERTS THAT DON'T EXIST, THEY EVEN MISSED AN ENTIRE CABINET THAT WAS ON THE DESIGN THAT WE HAD TO POINT OUT AND THEY FAILED TO FINISH THAT CABINET WITH REQUIRED INSERT FOR GARBAGE. THEY HAVE PUT US IN A SITUATION THAT MY 83 YEAR OLD MOTHER HAS MOVED TO FLORIDA TO LIVE WITH OTHER FAMILY BECAUSE IT WAS SO DISRUPTIVE AND STRESSFUL. SHE LIVED HERE IN THIS HOME FOR 55 YEARS. THEY HAVE NOW REFUSED TO FINISH, STARTED A LAWSUIT EVEN THOUGH WE AGREED TO PAY FOR THE WORK AS LONG AS IT WAS FINISHED TO OUR SATISFACTION AND ALL MATERIALS AND INSERTS BE PROVIDED. THEY AGREED BUT RESCINDED WHEN ASKED TO KEEP THEIR WORD ABOUT THE INSERTS. THEY WOULD RATHER PAY AN ATTORNEY THEN PROVIDE THE MATERIALS THEY...

The worst experience I have EVER had with ANYONE! Signed a contract may 2021. We we were told they couldn't get started until end of June, which was fine. We had all the demo work done and ready for installation. They came and delivered and installed for 2 days all day long. Seemed to do a decent job. We weren't told that another company would be handling the countertops until I called confused why the countertops weren't delivered as well. They told us that they work with Rock solid granite and they would have someone call us to schedule a template measuring date. They never did so I ended up having to call them then had to wait 6 weeks for counters. They finally came and installed. The counters didn't fit. They measured wrong. So then we had to wait for them to come back out, rip them out and install new ones. Those ones fit but there was a giant seam that was obvious to anyone that came and saw it as well as having giant chips and chunks throughout them. They came and ripped those up and installed again which again....didn't fit. Then they told us they didn't have the counter I picked out anymore so I had to choose another. Which I am NOT a fan of. That whole countertop process went on for about 4-5 months. We had no kitchen for half the year, and I was pregnant. No sink, no diswasher. It was awful. The sink that they installed has a giant scratch in it, not from us...but the counter people didn't want to do anything about it and I guess the cabinet people didn't either. The gouges, the incorrect door panels, damage to the cabinet panels, doors not hung correctly, failed hardware just to name a few and the amount of time it took for people to come out and fix things was absolutely ridiculous. We finally just submitted our final payment because I am so sick of dealing with them we will just live with the outstanding issues (a door that rubs, a door panel that has a gouge in it, the cabinet molding that has a gouge in it that they tried to patch up (poorly) a giant scratch in my kitchen sink.) At a glance the kitchen looks nice, but if you sit and look at it long enough there is always something you find that is wrong. Our favorite thing is the edging to each shelf inside a cabinet. It seems like they are glued on and when a dish is pulled out it catches on them. We have a bet on how long before those pop off. We were told by the salesman Jerry that they have high quality cabinets not made in china. But i tell you what...our cheap builder grade cabinets seemed to hold up better in the 20ish years we had them then the year we have had these. The communication was horrible. Every installer whether it was a cabinet installer or counter top installer didnt speak very good english at all which caused a lot of confusion. No one ever contacted us for anything. I had to be constantly calling or messaging or emailing them as they never contacted me. A year and a half later finally done with them and I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. Take your...
