I liked the pool. Most people were nice. However I felt like we weren't treated equally there. The young lifeguard told us a portion of the pool where the rock climbing wall was closed. She made my daughter get off of the wall and go to the other side of the rope. Well about 30 mins later there were kids (non- black or Hispanic) on the rock climbing wall having a good ol' time. I asked another lifeguard are there certain blocks of time the rock wall is open or closed? They said no. It was evident to me we were being discriminated against. I became uncomfortable and uneasy being there afterwards. I know biases may start at home, but when people work with the public there should be diversity training. No one should feel unwelcome by the staff at a public swimming pool. My children are older 14 and 18. They are quiet, well kept and very respectful young ladies, and didn't deserve to be treated as if they were lesser than other people. I had a conversation with them on the way home. They felt like they were being watched. Not in terms of their safety, but stared at. If this is a 'White's only" establishment it should be clearly posted in the entry way. Unfortunately we will not be returning. We will not go where we...
Read moreThe weather was pretty nice out, exactly 79 degrees (Fahrenheit of course). I came here with my group of friends for a small gathering. There were many participants in the pool. Our time there was enjoyable - one of the best nights of my life. BUT there was one major issue - some may believe this is minor issue, but for me, it was a day-ruiner, mood killer, and big nuisance. Now you may be thinking, “GET TO THE POINT!” Well I’m getting there, so let’s all calm down.
The floor was wet and there was no one to clean it for the 3 hours that we stayed here. I got some paper towels along with my swimming towel to wipe the concrete floor down, but one person was not enough to complete the job.. The participants seemed lazy and were giggling at me...
Read moreA great place to spend with the family taking in some natural vitamin D, some swimming and a little R&R. Our entire family enjoys this location as there are 3 Lenexa Pools. It seems like we always run into another family we know while attending & the kids always see some of their friends there. I'm not sure what the cost of entry is because we purchase Lenexa Summer Passes which are worth it! I attended the YMCA summer program in my youth, so I grew up swimming every day. I love spending hours at the pool. It signifies summer as well as any other...
