I took my vintage Elgin wrist watch in for servicing. The young lady behind the counter was nice and tried to be helpful. I told her that I wanted the watch serviced and specifically that I wanted it disassembled, cleaned, inspected, repaired if needed, reassembled, and oiled (these were the words I used) The watch has a stem that when pulled out to set the time pops back in (this is due to a broken lever inside) She took the watch back to the watchmaker and after a brief conversation came back and said that the watch maker didn't feel that a servicing was needed, the watch seems to be running fine. She offered me a new band, clean and polish the outside and a light cleaning of the movement, polish the crystal for the price of the band. I agreed to this just to test the level of work they put into it. ( I have other watches that need attention and I was looking to establish a working relationship with a local watchmaker) I also mentioned that I wanted the crystal replaced if possible and a new gasket, (the old one was crumbling). When I picked it up, it was looking good, the crystal was not changed, but they did buff out most of the scratches, the watchmaker wanted to explain why he put forth a minimum of effort. He tried to explain that the work I wanted would be costly and take time. I told him that I was willing to pay and wait for it. As it is, they sold me a band made in china for 30 bucks that I good get online for 8, and all the work that was done wasn't anything that I couldn't do myself. The watch ran well for 2 weeks then stopped due to debris from the old gasket. It is now being fully serviced and repaired in King NC by someone willing to do the work that I asked for. The work will cost $125.00 plus 8 for the new time set lever. I do not understand a watchmaker not willing to do work that is a matter of routine and specifically requested by a customer. Garon seems to have no problem whatsoever taking advantage of others. I bought a diamond ring from him 16+ years ago. He said it was this incredible deal, a $4,000, 1+ carrot ring for just $2,600 (way back then). Sounds great huh? I was not confident and he assured me that I may not make money on it, but it would "not lose any value." So skip ahead 16+ years later. Now keep in mind that the cash equivalent value now is $3,600 just by inflation. Both gold and diamonds have gone way higher than simply inflation.. gold is up several times what 16 years ago so it should be worth at LEAST 3,600...So if I got wxactly what I paid for it then, I still lose 1k in buying power. He didn't remember me of course I wouldn't expect that he would. He took the ring back and studies on it and had it looked up and wanted to find the fair market value of it... which he never would tell me. I can say I am proficient looking for deals on line and could not find less than 4,200 for the same cut type, carrot, and clarity some going for over 8k. but he wanted to know exactly how much I paid 16+ years earlier. Really, that shouldn't even matter, I was honest with him though, to which he cut more than half off what I paid then 16+ years ago! This was a never used, kept on a safe, diamond ring! He said, "well you never get what you paid for it." This tells me all I need to know about him (crook!). So to me there are good people working there, but I don't trust and don't suggest you trust Garon. He WILL try to take advantage of you. Some may think this makes him a good business man... I think it makes him a low life looking to, not just make money off people, but to take...

New to the area My boyfriend proposed to me On January 16th 2021. But of course got the wrong size Lol Whet into Garon's jewellers. I believe he saw the look on my face. Thay said don't worry we will have it sized today ( WOW ) the big Box chain Jewellers have nothing on this Jewellery store fantastic people polite courteous they take their time with you If you want a good jeweller this is where you need to go !!!!!!!!! Really needed to add to my review my fiance and I returned to Garon's and purchased his wedding band and mine. Brandy had been helping me prayer and when we returned she had already chosen 3 for my fiance to view and 3 for myself Brandy is so incredibly good at what she does she was spot on we both chose from one of the three she really new what we where looking for.
