What a delightful experience Mikey provided from start to finish. I first reached out to him via the shop email and he let me know that the desk handles appointments, which made scheduling so much easier than going back and forth with the piercer. If you have ever booked at a tattoo studio you probably know how scattered communication can become, but all I did was call and ask and the desk was super helpful. I brought my 6 year old to get her lobes done and the desk made sure I understood the paper work I’d need and how deposits work.
I paid my deposit (which goes towards the cost) and received a text receipt.
The studio itself was super easy to find, I was not expecting it to be in such an industrial looking plaza but there was ample signage and directions once there. It was clean, attractive, smelled nice and it was not super overwhelming and chaotic to my kid.
Mikey was a delight. My 6 year old was nervous but he spoke to her the entire time, explained his tools and his steps, and chatted with her while she gabbed like 6 year olds do. He told her what he normally uses and then let her pick her own color (pink) and explained when she would be able to change them. After the first side she was upset but he walked her through the second side and didn't rush or pressure her. When he was done and was explaining cleaning to me he paused to let her talk to me and let me comfort and reassure her. He did not try to talk over or dismiss her which was so so so nice to experience. She was not even super upset! She has cried significantly harder when I made her ponytail too tight! By the time we left the shop she was no longer upset and they no longer hurt. The redness was gone within 20 minutes and she told me they did not even feel pierced anymore once we made it to the car.
If you are a parent of a sensitive child, this is the place to go. At no point in time was she overwhelmed or frightened and she did not work herself up which is half the battle with sensitive kids!
One thing to note: when you pay the tip generates from the balance DUE and not the total cost, so be sure to consider that when you tip for...
Read moreI found Unicorn Ink by doing a Google search. My first appointment was right after they moved into their new shop. I had my second appointment and WOW was I even more impressed with the shop. The atmosphere, artists, and overall vibe is so fun and inviting! I worked with Greg and he is amazing. Super sharp lines, bright colors, fun to talk to, and he is not heavy handed at all (if you have been tattooed by a heavy handed artist you will appreciate that a lot)
As I said the shop is so fun! Did that other shop you went to have a sparkly floor? I bet it didn't... But theirs does! The wall is also fun and stands out. Anyone that was young in the 90's remembers the show GUTS well the walk reminds me of the aggro crag from that show. The shop is HUGE and has a nice big waiting area and many artists to be able to accommodate whatever style tattoo you are looking for. All of the artists have their own room with their name above the door. They all have their own space and a comfortable make you feel at home atmosphere. I also must say the room I was tattooed in was bigger than a shop I've been in that had 4 people tattooing in it
So between the quality of the work, the look of the shop, the overall atmosphere, and the friendly artists... You ABSOLUTELY need to check them out for your next tattoo.
Been there, been tattooed, even got the T-shirt! I'm proud to be welcomed into the Unicorn Ink family and look forward to continuing my...
Read moreThe last time my dad got a tattoo was almost two decades ago. My dad has talked about getting a new tattoo for years, but he never went through with it. Partly because my mom hated tattoos. She always made it clear she wasn’t a fan, so out of love and respect, he held off. But when she passed, he knew it was finally time to do something just for her.
We were lucky enough to find Liz, and I can’t say enough about the care and heart she put into this tattoo. She took her time with every detail, never rushed, and truly honored the emotional weight behind it. When my dad mentioned a flower that reminded him of my mom, Liz drew it up and added it per his request. She was so accommodating! That kind of thoughtfulness isn’t something you find every day.
But the most beautiful part happened was on the ride home. My mom’s favorite musician was Elton John, and as we were driving, Your Song came on the radio. It stopped us in our tracks. It felt like more than coincidence, it felt like her. Like she was saying, “It’s okay. I love the tattoo.”
That tattoo means the world to my dad, and to all of us. Thank you, Liz, for not just giving him a tattoo, but a deeply personal tribute, a moment of healing, and a sign from above that we’ll...
