Bell's Food Market — Local services in Lincolnton

On July 29, 2022, I went into the Bell's Food Store in Lincolnton, GA to purchase milk & icecream. The total of my purchase was $10.80. There were two young boys at the checkout. I gave one of them a $20.00 bill. He said can you give me the change 80 cents. I don't carry a lot of change because it makes my purse heavy! I came up with 60 cents & said I'd go out to the car to see if I had the other 20 cents. I didn't so I said just remove the icecream. I had several customers offer to pay the 20 cent or buy my icecream! I said no I've already paid them $20.60 my bill was only $10.80. They just want it easy on them to return my change. They should have been able to give me change when I handed them the $20.00 but perhaps they couldn't figure it out without me making it easier for them! The manager came over & said just give her the change. I was so embarrassed & by the time I got home I was crying! My husband went to the store to return the stuff & let them know we'd never go back to this store. The manager has earrings & obviously didn't know what was going on. He threatened to have my husband locked up! This store is nasty & we'll never set foot in this store ever again! I've seen a lot of people post stuff on facebook about how sorry this store is but I'd never would say anything bad about the store but I now am going to put my on comments about how this cashier didn't want to give me change from what I paid him & the sorry manager not cating that I had to try to make it just easier for the incompetent employess at this store. They have good meats and people in meat market are friendly and very helpful. However, the customer service in the rest of the store is non-existent. A couple of the cashiers are friendly, the others don't speak, smile or thank me for my business. I get anger everytime I enter the store. Produce is terrible and store is dirty. I have spoken with the manager, Johnny on several occasions and It seems he could care less if anyone shops in this store. I speak and smile @ everyone (whether I know them or not) and rarely does anyone acknowledge or care that I shop there. I pass Kroger, Wal-mart (Evans) and Publix to give my business to my home town......but I'm thinking why bother, if my money is not appreciated by Bell's or Lincoln county; if Lincolnton cannot do better than this....take down the SHOP LOCALLY signs! Please, please give us a decent...

I gave this place 2 stars because they do have good prices on meat and the people are friendly. BUT this place is filthy, it smells funny, the floor is gross, there is spider webs in the window by the buggies, the produce has flies all over it, the shelves are not ever fully stocked, they run out of my wine after 2 days and never get more in for a month, a couple of the cashier men smell like B. O. I usually don't give negative reviews but, I felt I needed to on this one. I still go there for essentials because it is the only grocery store in town, bit if I had other options, I would not go. You could be so much more....
