Wow! What a neat and fun experience to walk through all of these buildings and be able to see machines and tools that date way back from 1850 - 1950. From tractors and chainsaws to a blacksmith shop, then to a little barn area where there are a bunch of saddles and equipment that you could hook your horse up to, to help around the farm. This place really has a ton of historical artifacts that show how early American life was. It's on a big piece of land in East Texas with gorgeous trees, green scenery and a small little lake. You can't swim in it but it's still a beautiful little peaceful place to take the family. There are plenty of places to sit and relax and tons to see. At the very end of the walkway is an adorable little chapel where you can ring the bell at the Bell Prayer Tower. Then when you're done walking around outside, head inside the Old Mill Pond Museum for some AC and take a walk around the two story building with old tools, medical equipment, kitchen and laundry artifacts, musical instruments and so much more. Admission is free also and they also have an elevator for those in a wheelchair or those who can't walk upstairs.
The general store is one of the many buildings they have on this beautiful piece of land and it is a quaint little shop with cute souvenirs and local honey you can purchase. The lady who runs the store is so sweet and kind. You won't regret visiting this awesome...
Read moreWhat an incredible little museum right here in town! There's lots of old buildings to check out, and lots of history to be learned. Great place for a field trip or home school outing since it's free entry! There is a donation box available that really helps them be able to maintain it, please consider giving something to help. I took my parents on 4th of July, and it was perfect weather & though there was quite a few people there at the time, there was so many different places to look at, we didn’t feel rushed at all! We took our time & enjoyed everything they have in all the buildings. Really enjoyed the model train they have set up to replicate Lindale in the 1920’s! Lots of old tractors & antique farming items. Very nicely set up to view it all, took us about 1.5 hrs to look through everything, but of course I’m sure you could do it quicker or slower if you choose! The gift shop was setup really cute. They had cool affordable drinks & some “vintage” candy that’ll take you back a few years & allow you to share some stories with the younger visitors you have with you! Incredible staff that is super friendly & knowledgeable! Would definitely...
Read moreVery cool spot... That is FREE! Something to do and save a few bucks, can't beat that! Kiddos were semi entertained, parents enjoyed it, grand parents very much enjoyed it. Lots too look at, if the weather was nicer/warmer we probably would have taken a walk in the back and explore. Lots too look lots of neat info. My only suggestion and I really hope they see this.. either restored working machines (even one or two would be awesome, maybe an elective for the highschool kids to do one a year?) Or and probably much more doable videos of how the machines work and in action. I could guess for the most part and imagine but seeing what they actually do and in use would be so cool. Even QR codes you could scan and take you to a YouTube video of it in use and info about it (way to make income for the museum as well) just throwing out ideas. But definitely...
