Imagine waking at 2 am, restroom call, and seeing a roach climbing on your wall. In the process of taking care of business, the scurvy scoundrel disappears.
Now, maybe it's just me, but I don't know if the infestation (yes, this was the small infestation type and not palmetto roach) has infiltrated my luggage, my equipment, computer bag, etc, but it's been a really long year all day and I need the sleep. Alas, I can't get it out of my head and the room just feels nasty.
Two hours later I video as this unwanted pest crawls from the bathroom area, across the ceiling and down the wall by the door. I grab the only thing close, garbage can and try to squish him against the wall, then on the floor. Next thing I know, up the wall again he crawls, only a little slower.
I run to the toilet, grab tissue and try to pinch the life out of him, but he crawls out of the tissue. One last try to squish him and still the little buggers legs are moving.
I march to the office and report it to the receptionist on duty, who politely declined the offer of a closer look at the culprit and then off to the room.
Needless to say, sleep was not in my immediate future, so here I sit in my truck after leaving the room with no sleep.
I had asked the receptionist to have management call me and at 10:30 that hadn't happened. I went to check with front desk and talked with a nice young man who called me a little while later to tell me the manager offered a chunk off the room stay. I asked for enough points to compensate my nights stay and was declined. I declined their offer and chose instead to share my experience so others may be saved the same unpleasantness.
I checked and there are large openings around the pipes which would allow all inhabitants of the walls to enter the room, so BEWARE.
To the manager. Next time, don't ask someone else to call me. If you take ownership of this hotel, call me yourself. And it's not too much to take care of the room stay if a person is terribly inconvenienced like this. Don't insult...
Read moreSince Covid is among us, I checked the website before booking to see if breakfast was still going to be served. I didn't see anything on there saying it wouldn't be, so I assumed we were going to be able to eat breakfast. However, it was not served. They had lunch bags available with some snack type food for breakfast, so we were kind of upset because we were expecting actual meal type food. The young girl at the front counter kept asking if we were going to check out, which made us feel unwelcome and rushed to leave. The king size bed was bowed in the middle and it caused my S/O and I to slide into the middle onto each other during the night even though we tried to sleep toward the edges of the bed(that was the most level spots of the bed). The bottom sheet had weird looking stain spots on it so we felt the need to put the top sheet over it and sleep on that, and they were rough. One of the lamps connected to the wall fell over a little bit on its own so we just left it alone. The room lighting was weird in general, with all the lamps on it felt like too much was going on just to make it light in there. The cleaning lady ran into our room when we were walking to it at the beginning because she forgot something in there, so we waited outside the door because we didn't know if we could go in or not. The seal on the door to our room was not good. There were openings all around the door, and there was a bigger space between it and the ground. The door would catch on the frame while closing so we had to make sure it was really closed while we went in and out. Also the internet connection kept going off and on and the tv remote wasn't working very well. We did not have a good stay. I hope these things can be fixed...
Read moreChecked in October 3rd, Thursday, 2024. Upon exiting our vehicle there was a strong skunk smell coming from smoke by the room. We stayed in room 121, bottom floor. Entering the room the floors were dirty, broke coffee machine. Showered, shampoo was emptied, no soap. October 4th Friday, went for breakfast, flat eggs, no bacon, milk, slim pickings on food. Reported the room issues to front desk. Nice young lady, assured us it would be taken care of. Returned later to room. Dead roach still in corner, beds not stripped. Stain still on mine. After my sister Kaye Tucker and myself, showered, we heard water running loudly. I looked in our restroom water was pouring from upstairs into our bathroom area. Called front desk for maintenance told didn’t have one. Explain what was going on. A girl dressed in flip flops, sweat pants a hoodie pulled tightly around her face appeared at the door, with towels for us to finish cleaning it up. She stated she didn’t know what to do. Trying to deal with a manager was not happening. Refused to get a manager on the phone. My sister who retired from a utility company told them it was a fire hazard, we could not stay in the room. The water flooded out to the vanity area. Again refused to find us another room. We ask for our money back. We paid cash for the room. The clerk from Thursday did not want to give us a receipt showing we paid cash. We eventually got it. When the clerk from Friday told us we had to leave they did not want to refund our money. It had been marked credit in the computer our receipt said cash. We have video, showing what was going on. I will be contacting corporate office Monday. This was...
