I popped the Shift key out of my alienware laptop's keyboard and spent an hour last night trying to pop it back in place with no success. I was worried I might have unknowingly broken a hinge or something. The shift key on my laptop has a set of two hinges & metal latches. It's a bit strange. Even after lots of careful searching, I couldn't find any video tutorials for my laptop's shift key to show me how to properly slot it back into place.
I took it to these guys and was easily ready to pay $20-$30 if someone could just help me fix it, but they don't do on site repairs and they charge $50 just for diagnostics regardless of how small the issue is (and they said would take my laptop for an hour minimum). $50 is definitely overpriced for what I was requesting and I certainly wasn't prepared to pay that much in the event that something under the key was actually broken and it couldn't be fixed without replacement parts.
I was disappointed. I took my laptop home, fiddled with the keyboard in my frustration for another 10 minutes and fortunately managed to get it working perfectly myself.
I have no idea why they refuse easy services, I just wanted a little help for a small issue but these...
Read moreI have nothing but good things to say about these guys. I have been a long time customer and very loyal due to the personal efforts and of Wasatch Computer. They run a very reputable computer repair shop in Orem, Utah. Over the years I have received service quickly and at a reasonable cost. Most recently they repaired my laptop and replaced a broken screen.
They always seem to go the extra mile for me. Once I called because I bought a new printer and could not get it working. I called them, and they spent a good hour walking me through the necessary steps to get it working. I remember I was at my computer at the time, and I was directed to and how to perform the tasks that I could not do alone.
I am not very computer savy, and appreciate the work they do, and the extra service and time they take to make sure the customer is not only satisfied, but returns when the need arises.
I learned that they also repair iPods and iPads. I will keep them in mind for any future needs, as I just purchased a new ipad and use it mostly for work. I have told many of my friends and neighbors about their computer repair service and know they will treat them fairly and...
Read moreAfter charging me nearly $180 to "repair" my laptop, the next day, it began making horrible clicking noises, within a week, it would not stay on. I called Mark, the owner, and told him of the problems. He told me for another $25 he'd look at it again...seriously, someone that doesn't at least give a months warranty on their own shotty work?! After saying that, don't you have some sort of guarantee, he agreed to look at it for "free", two days and no update, I called him and he says, I'm having no problems keeping it on, etc. So I go pick it up, still messed up. I doubt he even looked at it. He's terrible about keeping you updated as to when he's done working on it, and then when it is done, he has bizarre hours that you can pick it up, after 8pm on day, the next day I try to pick it up around 10am, nope, come back after 1pm, so I come them, but then he's in a big rush and I have to get there in 10 minutes of he's going to leave b/c he wants to go to Costco, are you freakin' kidding me?! Learn how to run a business. Bottom line, he didn't fix a thing and pretty much kept my laptop hostage 36 hours longer than it needed to be....
