As much of a hot commodity it is, I would truly recommend to anyone just trying to get a quick workout in to take the time to just travel off the island. On the other hand, if you're looking for private classes or group sessions, this might be financially worth it for you. It's very clean and very friendly, but.....it is very costly and (not as much as a big deal alone) a tight squeeze. It has a lot of useful equipment but I kept feeling like I was in other peoples way. However, I didn't expect anything different entering the gym knowing it was a small business and a small space during a busy time of year. Trying to be understanding that it is the only gym on that side of the entire island, I would have rather driven off the island to a lower scaled corporate gym like a Planet or a Retro for the price I was paying and to be able to move around. It is a great business move since there is slim pickings of free weight gyms on the island, leaving people really no choice but to pay for this gym so making their memberships more on the expensive side. $150 a month is comparable to a LifeTime fitness which is luxury gym comparable to a Disney Resort lol. The only real excuse I see to making adjustments to widen their availability to customers in the community is that they survived the pandemic..... not sure how far that excuse can go anymore. I hope they take this with a grain of salt. No ill will and wish this...
Read moreUnfortunately this gym leaves a lot to be desired. One of their biggest selling points is that they are the ONLY relatively-practical gym on the island to get to. I went there today and there was a line out the door. I know that LBI is a vacation community primarily, and obviously most people come down through mid May through late August, but if one existed, another gym that was actually decent sized would blow this one out of the water. If such a place were to exist, they could easily steal Elite's business if they even lowered their price for a monthly subscription by 25$. You could effectively run this competitor business off-season too to cater to the locals without too much labor or maintenance costs. Unfortunately, this is what happens when there is no competition in the market- people pay too much to receive a...
Read moreDawn the owner is a local who really puts in the effort to get to know her clients. She and a few other trainers offer spin classes as well as personal training. Although the space is relatively small she still has a good assortment of equipment given the space confinements. There is a large assortment of dumbells ranging from 10lbs to at least 55lbs. I believe she has some dumbells over 55lbs, but not entirely sure. She has one weight rack and one rack on a track for those newer to lifting. Cardio equipment includes treadmills, a step machine seated peddlers (great for people with knee issues) spin bikes and rowing machines. There are also a few machines too. She has everything I needed for my weight lifting routine. There is even a punching bag downstairs in...
