Our family booked 4th of July weekend 2021 at The Mariner and were very disappointed in our experience. I will say that the staff at the front desk were great, very courteous and nice. Our key issue was that there was no WiFi in our room the whole time we were there and the manager Dave Hupke was very unprofessional and rude about it and gave us a hard time for complaining. As soon as we checked in we called out the issue, and the front desk staff said the WiFi couldn't be fixed until sometime the week of July 5th (after we left). We called Dave Hupke the manager of both The Mariner and its sister property Spray Beach Inn to discuss the problem and that we were going to leave the room 1 day early as was inconvenient for us (not life or death) ....we were told he was busy and would call us back... he never bothered. I called Dave Hupke again later on in the evening as was clear he had no intention of calling us.. got him, and was told he would not let us out of the final night if we left early early due to this issue, or give us any money off for the inconvenience because: WiFi was free no one else complained we could have gone to some common space to get WiFi as there were spots here and there in the hotel that got a signal.. (as if OK that a paying guest should go wandering the hotel looking for a signal) the best of all ..why didn't we just go to another hotel if we were so unhappy (right..4th of July weekend and zero rooms in town).
I have NEVER been exposed to such unprofessional behavior in my life in a service industry. It would have been nothing to profusely apologize and offer us SOMETHING for our trouble..but no... add that to the fact the issue the room smelled like a musty sneaker. (asked someone to look into that..no one did ) ..I don't recommend...
Read moreSolid 3 1/2 stars, if I could give halves. This place wasnât bad and it wasnât great⊠It was honestly a mediocre hotel. When we got there, they told us that the elevator was broken, so we had to carry all our bags upstairs ⊠not a terrible thing, but honestly, it seemed like a precursor. The room with the games had a broken game machine and when we asked for balls for the pool table- we were told that the pool table is broken. Iâm not sure how you break a pool table, but apparently we werenât allowed to play on that either. The room was very small, but it was clean. They do not clean the room for you unless you go down and ask them, there is no phone in the room and also we couldnât find the remote control for the TV. We went down and got a remote for the television and asked them to make up our room for the day. We got back from the beach after 4 PM and the room was still not cleaned. We had to go back downstairs and ask for towels and for someone to just empty the garbage can and for conditioner, since that was completely empty. Listen, itâs a beach hotel , I get it⊠but the hotel is pretty new for everything to be broken, remotes to be missing and for someone not to be able to come up and make up the room. Every time I walked in the building there was someone cleaning the freaking door. Every time, it was the oddest thing Iâve ever seen. The pool was clean and warm, but the gates were completely unlocked and so was the door to the building so you didnât have to have a key to get into the pool area or the hotel which I thought was very odd also. We had a bed to sleep in for us and the kid. It was close to the beach. This place is way to expensive for such...
Read moreBEWARE!! DO NOT try to book this hotel through Expedia! FALSE ADVERTISING! THE HOTEL DOES NOT HONOR WHAT IS LISTED ON EXPEDIA! I booked a stay on Expedia yesterday which stated that a king room would require NO deposit. After I booked the stay for July 15-16, I began receiving several alerts from my debit card showing that the hotel was trying to charge me THE FULL AMOUNT for the room! Luckily I only leave what I need to spend on my debit card! The hotel called me and I told the woman that I had a screenshot proving that it said NO PAYMENT NOW, PAY AT PROPERTY. The staff member said ok and she'd make a note of it and assured me that my reservation was secure. An hour later my card was still tryimg to be charged! I called the hotel and was told by a second staff member that Expedia was wrong and that they were trying to correct it but I had to pay full price to keep the room. I went on to say how it was false advertising but they are GREEDY and don't care about customer satisfaction. I proceeded to call Expedia and they even reached out on my behalf and after an hour they got the same NO answer. The Expedia staff said they were rude to him as well and would not budge. He said he even never heard of this before. A small deposit.. Yes. But not payment in full! He agreed that they needed to honor their listing on their site. An email to the hotel manager from me went unanswered. Who knew people thought that they can change the rules on customers?? Well THEY DO and the staff stinks! Glad I didn't give them my business and I will write this same review on any other sites I can get my hands on. HORRIBLE STAFF AND...
