You DO NOT need to do the El Dorado Club's safety course to shoot on the large Public Range! Aforementioned club is also awesome and helpful to anyone interested in archery, or looking for an archery club. They run on the green patch of concrete to the East of the field on Saturday mornings.
Target bales are hay and have metal supports on the back to use to strap your own targets with. Bales were replaced as of 9/22/24. Bring your own equipment, pick any open bale and shoot- no designated distance markers so you can get close up to the target or walk as far back as 100m. Most shooters that appear are set up about 18m, 50m, and 70m so you can set yourself accordingly. Range technically has arrow-pull rules but it's definitely more loose and trust-oriented. If you trust the archer to your immediate sides, go ahead and pull your arrows whenever. Keep your dogs on a leash while in the field, don't walk in front of other archers targets, etc... The standard logic applies: DBAD.
If you want to shoot often, get a yearly parking pass from the Nature Center across the street. 70$ bucks or so for the whole year, meaning as long as you show up at least 8 times, you get your money's worth.
I can't believe I have to also remark this but this is obviously an open field with no cover; This is not an indoor-style range. Please consider the weather if you come to shoot. Rain, Cold, Wind, Random Flocks of Geese... this range has most of what mother nature has to offer. Quite a few random gopher holes but the grounds are nonetheless well-cared for and clean.
Archers are very chill people and usually if you just ask we will help you out however we can. Just please don't get right in our way while we shoot, or cause risks to the safety of...
Read moreI live really close by and I like this archery range so much I got a year parking pass. Glad people aren’t such snobs here.
Each target is basically 10ft apart. Usually empty during the weekdays. Long lanes, unsure how many meters or yards. Great for everyone to use. Plenty of parking. Getting into the park cost money but I just purchased an annual pass since I’m visiting 10+ monthly. Not everyone follows the rules so if you feel uncomfortable shooting next to someone then move down a few lanes :)
Classes are on Saturday I think. Not sure, I’m on the other end. I do see that the classes in the morning can be a lot to deal with as a regular. I don’t mind. Nevertheless In general, people are super friendly and helpful.
Bring some food. I think you can even bbq across the road from the archery. I pack a picnic, bring a blanket/towel, and park my butt on the grass for lunch.
Great place to...
Read moreVolunteer coaches are awsome! Greatest thing about here is that there are many coaches during class, so you get tips and advices from more than one coach more than just once. And you can get different advices and perspective too. It really feels like 1:1 learning. And they're hilarious!
The parking on Sat is $7, and class fee with equipment rental is $5 for all safety, beginner, and advanced. There's a yearly plan for...
