I cannot recommend Texas Oncology based on my personal experience. Over the course of my care, I have encountered multiple serious lapses in patient safety, administrative competence, and responsiveness that are unacceptable, especially in a cancer care setting.
CT Scan with Oral Contrast: I experienced an allergic reaction to the oral contrast during my CT scan. Staff were not concerned or proactive in addressing the reaction, and I had to advocate for myself just to receive a prescription to relieve the resulting itchiness.
Biopsy Procedure: During a biopsy, they almost prepared the wrong breast. This near-mistake could have had serious consequences and required me to intervene to prevent an error.
CT Scan Imaging: I was instructed to pick up a CD containing my CT scan images. When I received it, the CD was completely blank, making it impossible to have proper documentation or seek a second opinion.
Breast MRI Appeal: My doctor requested a breast MRI from Good Shepherd or Longview Regional Hospital. Good Shepherd does not have the necessary equipment for the procedure, and Longview Regionalās breast MRI machine is out of service until next year. Despite the urgency of this request, the RN responsible for submitting the insurance appeal refused to do so, even though I had provided completed appeal letters and the insurance company was ready to receive them. This delay shows a clear lack of urgency and understanding of standard protocols for cancer care. Her inaction is delaying my cancer treatment and directly impacting my chance for survival. Jordan should be fired immediately.
Overall, the pattern of care I experienced reflects both incompetence and indifference. Multiple lapses, including ignoring allergic reactions, near procedural errors, failure to provide imaging, and refusal to follow standard insurance appeal procedures, are completely unacceptable.
For anyone seeking cancer care, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Based on my experience, Texas Oncology does not provide the level of care, attention to detail, or urgency that is critical in oncology.
RN Jordanās lack of professionalism and egregious refusal to follow standard protocol is completely unacceptable. Despite multiple patient requests and all necessary documentation being provided, she refused to submit a critical insurance appeal for imaging necessary to monitor cancer treatment. Her blatant inaction demonstrates a shocking disregard for patient care and safety, delaying essential treatment and showing an astonishing level of incompetence and indifference. This behavior is not only unprofessionalāit is dangerous and entirely unacceptable in any...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am a 100% Disabled Vietnam Era Veteran who was referred out to Texas Oncology in Longview, TX back in 2020 and was assigned to Oncologist Dr. Kavita Nirmal for care. Dr. Nirmal is an excellent Doctor. I had a portion of my left lower lung removed due to lung cancer back in 2016 while living in NC at the VA hospital in Salibury, NC. I moved back to Texas in 2019.The VA referred me to Texas Oncology for follow up care for the cancer. It was discovered that l had developed stage 3A non-small cell lung cancer and needed to start a regimen of 33 radiation treatmentsĀ and 7 treatments of chemo. There is no consulting you whatsoever of your availability to the schedule that they impose on you. The lack of communication between the radiation department and chemo department are not structured and are lacking. You are told one thing one week and that is subject to change without consulting the patient's availability or other outside obligations. Another problem that seems to occur is that the machine for radiation breaks down because they only have one that does target radiation treatment which creates scheduling problems for the cancer patients who receive the treatment. It therefore creates problems for the patients who also receive chemo. During my time the power has gone out two times which also creates scheduling problems across the board. It's apparent that Texas Oncology refuses to have a back up generator for power outages. It is my opinion as a retired medical professional that Texas Oncology has over booked patients like most medical companies do. Dr. Taylor is my radiation Doctor and l have nothing but good reports for this man. There is little good to say about the call center. However, there are good nurses such as Donna Poteet for Dr. Nirmal and Sheryl Herral for Dr. Taylor. The staff at the front desk Darian and Dr.Taylor's staff are very proficient and orderly. There is a shinning star in the radiation department named Erica. However, I feel like this is really lip service, because if they really want to thank me for my service and their freedom then the veterans would treated better than they are currently. There is room for improvement. Therefore this will be a posted review of 3 out 5 stars for Texas Ocolongy Longview Tx....

My OB had to send 4 different referrals for them to receive it. I missed there call and left me a voicemail stating the received my referral when I called back they said they donāt have a referral for me. Then when they finally after 4 phone calls found my referral tried to force me to go to a Dr I saw 2 years ago once instead of the Dr I was referred to. I informed them I wanted to see the Dr I was referred to they said I would need to do a transfer requested⦠I did 3 yesterday, I got told today that they have no transfer requested for me. I also have a voicemail from yesterday stating that I could not see the Dr I want that I would have to see the Dr I saw once 2 years ago. It just seems like they are covering their butts because the voicemail I have stating I have to see the Dr I donāt want is a violation of my rights as a patient!! All I have to say is know...
